If your boost is holding well then I see no reason for you to change the value. Lowering the value gives quicker response for the correction, but that is offset in the stock table with the use of much larger correction factors. If you lower the value and keep the stock correction table, you will likely see over correction and a wavy boost curve.

mrfred,
should you find some time to give us the adress for the IX EDM 88840016 rom , would be much appreciated here in europe.
i've make many tries to control boost spikes on my IX , but clearly as mentioned here the ECU react too slowly causing over corrections of the logged WGDC (-8 then +5) even with a smoothed TBEC (attached)

So only your help can fix this !
thanks

Seems like not to many people are trying this, but I am happy to get it setup for your ROM. I need a bit more time though. Maybe a week or two.

I have found out when using a "3-5" on the update delay, it will add DC while spooling, making spikes that are hard to control. I got rid of this by zero'in out the -20 row on the TBEC.

That's the key.

Cliff notes of my findings so far (currently still looking at logs).

1) If you just make the additions for the mod and keep old TBEC load seems to run the same after the changes
2) -20 TBEC value is where the turbo lives while its trying to spool. This really helps introduce the spike because then it goes straight from -20 to whatever the overshoot is (e.g +17.5). So lower/zero -20 as suggested above.
3) TBEC might not actually be percentage values of load i.e I have overshoot by this % of my target load. To me its looking like its a flat unit of Load. I.e i seem to be getting in 17.5 value of the table if I end up 17.5 over Offset + BDEL (someone probably pointed this out already but I may have misssed it).

That's it for now. Making lots of boost changes and then tommorow I will try to install the JDM MAP sensor .

mrfred, How can I change or even look at the wastegate activation / deactivation values? In my image they just show up like the definition isnt right (...) Could this be why I have such drastic taper after 6500rpm. Is it just turning off the solenoid which in turn is making it go to near wastegate spring pressure at redline or is my taper solely a result of turbo design limits?

Yep, it is in "load" units and not percentage. I guess I forgot to mention that specifically in my instructions. Some things that Colby did were kinda confusing. This is one example. Colby decided to use "%" to represent the unit of load.

I just happened to fix that in my own .xml files this weekend. I also shortened the names a bit so they fit into the ECUFlash window.

If you want to get the tables working without shortening the names, then go into the evo9base.xml file, find the four BCS activate/deactivate table definitions (they are all one after the other), and somewhere within the definition (I usually add scalings at the end), add:

scaling="RPMStatLimit"

You might find that the first entry already has a scaling in it. Delete it.

If you want the shorter names, then in your 88590015.xml file, find the four BCS table definitions, and replace them with this:

----
<table name="BCS Activation RPM-Active" address="1668"/>

<table name="BCS Activation RPM-De-activate" address="166a"/>

<table name="BCS De-activation RPM-De-activate" address="166c"/>

<table name="BCS De-activation RPM-Re-activate" address="166e"/>
----

Then go into your evo9base.xml file, find the four BCS table definitions again, and replace them with this:

----
<table name="BCS Activation RPM-Active" category="Turbo" type="1D" scaling="RPMStatLimit"/>

<table name="BCS Activation RPM-De-activate" category="Turbo" type="1D" scaling="RPMStatLimit"/>

<table name="BCS De-activation RPM-De-activate" category="Turbo" type="1D" scaling="RPMStatLimit"/>

<table name="BCS De-activation RPM-Re-activate" category="Turbo" type="1D" scaling="RPMStatLimit"/>
----

Thanks, mrfred! I changed my deactivations to 8000 and then rescaled my MWGDC to 8000 rpm and I'll see how it goes.

Should be very easy to fix these on your own. Look in your "evo7base.xml" file for the WG activation/deactivation tables. You find that the definitions either have an incorrect scaling or no scaling. Use:

scaling="RPMLimitStat"

That will fix it.

Ok I'll have to try it later.

In other news...the JDM MAP sensor is installed!! The interesting thing is that it confirmed what the boost reading on the dyno said...my car is able to spike to 26psi and then tapers off to about 21psi by 6500 rpm (will have to do higher rpm tests when next I log to see what it goes to by 7500).

Bought the car new in 2004, and while I do have Naji's pills they are still here uninstalled (wanted to have JDM map installed + have boost control fully covered before installing the pills). If this actually is accurate...I should be able to hold 24-20ish psi without ever meddling with pills.
