TTP - when you install the IAT sensor, do you typically weld a bung into the UCIP, or just drill and tap the pipe?

I'd weld a bung so that only the temp sensor is in the airflow.

Both methods work effectively. Be careful tapping threads as there is not a lot of materal to work with.

I think I'm just gonna weld in a bung to play it safe.

Do you know if you can weld 316 stainless to 304 stainless?

No prob. Just be sure that the welder uses SS weld wire, not so much for strength, but just to keep rust away. :-)

mixmastermatt - Do you still have that MAF that you accidentally set on fire. I want to try and salvage the connector from it to make a plug and play harness for speed density.

UPDATE:

Car is down indefinitely. I think I lifted the head and pressurized the coolant system enough to blow the freeze plug out and damage the seals on the water pump.

I'm attaching my current ROM image for those who want to get an idea of where I was.

thats bad news.

Did you attach the rom somewhere else and I missed or is it not attached yet.
I think I am going to get this going in the next couple weeks and would love to have your rom as a starting point.
