No MAF? No problem!

After many emails back and forth with the mad scientist, I finally have stock ECU based speed/density setup. The last thing to do is disable "limp mode" when no MAF frequency signal is present on the MAF input pin. I still have the MAFT Pro hooked up for IAT and BARO input, but that is just until I can hook them up directly to the ECU. The GM MAF is completely disconnected electrically. All airflow input is based solely on the JDM MAP sensor.

I jut need to adjust the MAPtoMAF a bit to keep load under 300. Everything else seems to be near perfect. I blew the the IC piping off at the throttle body during testing, but the car drove normally anyway, except the lack of power of course.

Very nice, I've been meaning to do this to get rid of MAF flow anomalies on transients.

Can you give more details showing what you changed, what mapping you used? Are you willing to post a modified ROM image?

I can't take the credit for the patch, nor do I know exactly what was done. It was all written by our russian friend from the other forum. He uses a similar patch to limit MAF frequency and use MAP after that point. This patch uses MAP only. Once I get the final ROM that takes care of MAF input codes, I'll see if he'll let me post it.

I started working on this in the original thread on aktivematrix, but Bez went down the line of MAF limiting, but I want to do what you've done here which is the full conversion. I think he implemented a VE table, and it is the values in this and the code changes that I'm interested in. I'd like to help by testing this on my JDM IX if you're willing to share the ROM. jcsbanks at yahoo dot co dot uk if you are willing/have permission to share the ROM. I don't mind leaving the MAF plugged in for now, just want to use MAP for load.

Great work... with this coming up and realtime tuning being developed, it's a great time to be an ECU tinkerer. I appreciate all the effort from you developers.

I'm thoroughly impressed.
I sincerely hope this becomes a public option.

Wow!

Not that I need this, but I'm hoping it propogates to the 8's in the future after some time to have this run in all sorts of situations.

now that would be nice, stock ecu tuning and map...no more inlet restrictions. The gap between standalone and stock ECU keep getting slimmer.

Matt has been running speed/density for many months now with MAF Translator Pro on factory ECU. This is just another step.
