When I had my Red EVO IX with this problem, I made the changes suggested in the thread above, and also manually adjusted the idle up to close to 1000 rpm. That fixed the problem for me about 80 percent of the time....

I have set them to 1000 before and got fairly decent idle out of the Cossies. My S1's lope with 0* advance (I wonder if they were misboxed S2's almost) where everyone else says that they dont even notice them. I have played around with it and its fine in all rpm ranges/driving conditions. When I get home from work I will post the sections that are pertinent to your problem.
do you set BISS properly prior or after these changes?

Idle timing: I have tried everything from stock settings to a solid block of 19's

seems least prone with 11* idle, then 14ish around A/C Idle cells. ( FP4r's)

What was the consensus on this issue? What was finally modified to resolve it?

Adjusting the BISS usually solved the problem most of the time. Do note that after changing the ISCV, remember to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU. Even after that, it takes awhile for the ECU to learn the new settings.

For those with cams, it is recommended to change your timing between 0 - 1500rpm between Load 0 - 50/60 to around *11 to *14.

Most important, it takes alot of time and patience to troubleshoot the problem. Anyway, that's my fix!

I had this exact issue in my E8 after installing cams and intake

I increased my Idle with AC ISCV steps to mid 50's increased my Idle with AC on and adjusted my BISS a little, problem is now solved it idles around 1000-950 with AC-On and the RPMS jump to about 1500-1600 when AC engages and comes back down
