One can use the ECUFlash cable to clear trouble codes already. Check out www.aktivematrix.com under Downloads for OBD Scan Tech.

Awesome write up. I was looking for something exactly like this. I've had a few yrs experience tuning VW's with 034efi, and I was looking for a thread to learn the tuning maps of the stock ECU, and see the user interface.

THANKS!!

Thumbs up Excellent Source of information; thanks for the updates to the thread

This tutorial is an excellent source of information even if you have your ECU tuned by a professional programmer like I did. I had John Bradley tune my ECU. This tutorial gives you an excellent background on the process. I want to thank everyone who continues to update this thread. I am getting a late start with my build and I am pleased to see there is still active interest that I can learn from.

I just slapped on a evo 9 turbo and everything is pretty close to my 8 turbo 91oct+meth tune but before I am able hop back on the dyno I think it might just need a little fine tuning. So different airflow that is probably leaning things up a little bit right?

That will depend on the boost level and the fuel map ...

With the Evo's EFI system and 3D fuel map, more airflow doesn't always mean leaner. Airflow changes the load value in the ECU and that may change the reference point in the fuel map. This new reference may call for more or less fuel, so your mix could go either way.

How can I set the boost control with ecuflash on EVO 8 ?
I have modified several STI's, but on this evo I don't have any boost or wastegate map, except the 4 maps with max. wastegate duty and 4 maps with boost desired engine load.

Thanks !

Those are the boost adjustment maps, along with the boost control load offset map. But, you can't increase the boost level on an Evo w/o mechanical modification. You have to modify the pills in the stock system to get more boost. Search this forum for ECU boost control and you'll find lots of answers.

Thanks, that's bad news
I have a greddy boost controller, it should work better with that ? than to control the boost from ecu or other mecahnical modification ?

ECU boost control is the way to go in my book. You can't beat RPM based boost tuning ... I'm sure you know if you've tuned Subarus.

If you have a boost controller and want more boost, that is your solution.

yes, but subaru have a clear target boost map and a wastegate duty map, evo's are my favorites, but the boost control really pissed me off. I have another 1 day to make it for 12 secs. quarter mile.
