This is a great thread. I hate to be obvious, but I hear a lot of people wanting to eliminate there rear o2 sensor and wire in a full time wide band instead. Be aware your wide band must be in front of your catalytic converter, if you use a catalytic converter?

I will be offering a course in the future. It will be more ECUflash specific but tuning is tuning.

Tuning-
Its numbers and watching what the datalogger tells you is working and what isnt working. The "theory" that alot of tuners proclaim as gosepl tends to be (at least to me) opinion more than substantiated fact. Obviously there are always the things that work and things that don't, but the blending of the values in between is where some people get carried away.

What's the best way to adjust MIVEC, I see the JDM IX RS map and used that as a beginning point but how should I tell what to change?

If you have 272 cams, then use the JDM RS mivec map. It is an excellent map. If you do not have ca ms, then use my aggressive map. Do not use my aggressive map with cams because it is likely to trigger a p0300 code. Alao, do not advance you ignition timing at idle beyond 7*, because that is likely to trigger a p0300. If you have injectors that are not scaled, that might also trigger a p0300.

Two caveats about this map: First, it will slightly increase your idle by about 100-200 rpm during normal driving. Second, after you hammer on the car for a while, your idle will go up to 1000 rpm. If you can tolerate this, then go ahead and use the map. If you cannot, then use the JDM 9 RS map.
Why does the idle increase after a while? Is the aggressive map too hard on the engine and will the idle ever decrease? I'm looking for a safe MIVEC map w/o cams.

Thanks!

No, but Evoscan is supposed to have this feature but I don't think he has all f the bugs out of it just yet. Soon I hope.

good question, that may be a possibility in the future, currently Evoscan does, at least partly and depending on version. ECUplus certainly does.

I suggest the creder for trouble free clearing and reading. ~ $35 ebay. Plus you get a cable extension that moves the ecuflash cable out from under the dash.
