Ok I got bored and was reading this thread then I saw the formula and nj1266's suggestion to make and excel document to calculate the AFR. I am pretty sure I am not the first to make one but I would be more than happy to share it with you guys.

I realize I am still a new guy around here, but this is the 3rd time I have read the information and it still helps learn more each time. I know this is specific to the Evo, but this is honestly the best tuning guide I have read that could easily apply to myself with the Galant platform I am working on.

Excellent, and thorough job done with this

This thread just needs a FAQ and it would be perfect because I have some really noob questions. I have been reading for a couple days, but I dont understand a couple things in the "Timing section".

1. Naji explained in the first advanced timing map that the spark plug should fire between 3*2*...How does one know/think when the spark plug will fire at that precise point and not at 3*3* or something else?

2. After logging and tuning a map in 3rd/4th gear, do the changes that the tuner made affect all of 1st, 2nd, and 5th gear as well? In other words, does the ECU automatically adjust to the changes made in the 3rd and 4th gear logs?

Once again, I apologize if this was posted elsewhere, but I have not been able to find the answers to those questions. I'm taking notes and studying with this guide and forum before I attempt to tune my own car.

RE #2, the changes made are based on 3rd and 4th gear logs because since they take longer to do you have more samples from the log, however doing it in 5th would mean you'd be going ridiculously fast. The ECU uses RPM and Load (which is more or less how much air is going into the engine) to decide on how much fuel to use, the timing advance to use, etc. It is independant from which gear the car is in.

Regarding question 1:

I believe that 3*2* means the timing should be between 2 to 3 degrees before TDC, which would be adjusted in the timing tables by you.

Hey. I'm using the newest version of ECUFLASH and I'm having trouble setting the injector latency and scaling. I'm new to all of this and when I open the tables it's not allowing me to change any of the numbers. Thanks in advance.
