i understand the narrowband simulation in closed loop, 0-1v signal coming from zt2. but what happens when you go to open loop? i maean at this point, ecu is looking at the map for afr but under normal circuimstances it would user front and rear 02 to adjust afr for things, so is the zeitronix simulating the front o2 sensor in open loop as well i guess?

Open loop = IGNORE the O2 sensor signal COMPLETELY. It only takes the O2 sensor signal into consideration during closed loop.

sure that makes sense, so can you just set me straight on this and tell me how the ecu (in open loop) then makes sure that afr is actually what is set in the map as well as any compensations for altitude, air density, etc/

thanks

The ECU does not check the AFR in open loop. It blindly follows the AFR table and temperature/baro compensations tables with no feedback. That's why its called open loop.

Can you just adjust the high and low octane maps for cruising speeds and not change the open loop values?

And you dont have to do the WB mod do you? You can simply change the values and log/watch the WB reading on the gauge correct?

kmc...

if I understand you, no

the car will stay in closed loop unless you switch off the tps and load open loop switches. (sort of double speak, but that is what you are doing.)

iow you can put 20 in the map and it will not have an effect unless you have closed loop "off".

of course MRfred has a more elegant way to handle this

ok that makes sense. Thats too bad as simply adjusting the target afr in the fuel map would be much easier..not that adjusting the open loop condition is difficult.
