This is great I shall try this today.
Could you investigate address: 173e (1d table) which should be the 'timing retard limit' ?
Finally, the GT-A could be tuned properly

Thanks Tephra

Hi nads1978,

I have changed my auto tranny (same as the GT-A) Airtrek to 5-sp manual and re-using the stock ecu.

My tuner is good with the Hallman mbc and prefers to tune with it.

However, I've read here that you can tweek for wider, more consistent power band by replacing the oem solenoid with units from (Grimmspeed, Perrin) and an EvoX 3-bar map sensor and reflash.

My tuner states that this is all well and good but the base maps would have to be setup and this could take a long time.
Would you have any base maps that could help me/him for ecu controlled boost.
I'm using an evo8 Turbo w/ 10.5 hotside, walbro 255, megan bolt-ons, hks 272's and 3" exhaust.

I'm using an Apexi boost controller, not the ECU. So I'm sorry - I cant help.
When your tranny was changed to manual, do you know how the speedometer was wired in(GTA ECU has no direct input like the manual ECU)? Also do you have a diagram of the ECU pin-outs for your Airtrek?

I'm not sure. Gotta ask the technician, but he basically used the input from the speed sensor in the 5-sp transmission. Originally, the speedometer read from two inputs from the auto tranny shaft.
I don't have the pin-outs, sorry.
But I'll ask my technician if he could do a trace.
I think he has the ability but most times he does not have much time.

Yes, the same as the GTA - the 2 shafts on the auto box go to the ECU, then the ECU outputs to speedometer. On the manual cars, the signal goes from transmission, to ECU, and "forks" on up to the speedometer too.

If he has any pin-outs that would be a massive help for me, I'm trying to complete the GTA pinout and would be good to compare them.

Now, since we have some decent definitions to tune the GT-A, has anybody attempted to play with the shifting tables (shift pressure & time)? What would be a good approach to improve the performance of the tranny using those tables?

Does anyone know the 2-byte load address for 89970017 (2005 Airtrek)? I am willing to donate some money if someone is willing to take the time to find it. Thanks.

Hi,

Spoke to the technician over the weekend and he said he took the cables that go from the the tranny shafts and wired them directly to the speedometer. He bypassed the auto ecu entirely.

Okay thanks, I think you must have the older INVECS II box, it had a speedo output like the manuals does, the same as some of the Galant VR4s over here.
