EcuFlash, EvoScan, ECU Patches - Organization Needed

Ecu development (software, patches, etc…) is really cranking along at a record pace. This is great, but as the information we have grows it becomes much harder to manage it all. This post is to discuss what can be done to help organize the information and improve documentation for EcuFlash, EvoScan, and ECU Patches. I propose that we create a wiki for the information.

The wiki will deal exclusively with Stock Ecu. There will be 4 sections EcuFlash, EvoScan/MitsuLogger, Rom Patches, and General Tuning. The wiki will be editable by the coders and some other knowledgeable users who can help to comb through the existing information and create the wiki.

Finally, and on a slightly separate note I think we should also establish ROM version conventions for each ECU type. In other words there should only be ONE ROM version for each model car. I.E. – All USDM IX’s must use 88590015. This will allow the developers to work on a more limited number of roms. This will make things easier for them and for everyone else. No longer will there be a need to find 2byte load in tens of different roms. Things will be accomplished much faster and documentation will be more available and applicable as fewer sets of instructions will need to be written.

The standards roms will be –

Code:
   03-05 JDM VIII - 96260009
   03-05 JDM RA - 90550001
   03-04 USDM VIII - 94170015
   05 USDM VIII - 96940011
05 EDM VIII- 96530006 (Replacement for USDM '05 VIII)
   06 USDM IX - 88590015
   06 AUDM IX - 88580014
   06 EUDM IX - 88840017
If the coders (Tephra, Bez, mrfred, jscbanks, any others) will please tell me if they agree to this, then we can move forward.

What do you all think, is this a good idea? What suggestions do you have to improve things.

Could we get someone to clean up some sections of the tuning forums that arent used? this will drive the tuning section up to almost 20 subforums. Kind of ridiculous.

I really like the idea of having a set ROM for each model. I think this will really help R&D and release easier for those who contribute so much.

Does that matter? Sure there are some like works flash that have less than 20 threads but if you get rid of that section where would that information go?

Edit - Better yet what if we put EcuFlash, EvoScan, Rom Patches in a sub folder called Stock Ecu.

That may be better. I just think it is cluttered. Maybe combine some forums that are rarely used or move them to the vendors personal forum like Works.

Also, would you want a General forum as well, for things like "Show me your timing maps"? General topics specific to Stock ECU Tuning.

Yes we should have a general tunning forum within the stock ecu section.

That is also a good idea to move those items to the vender section

03 Evo 8 - 94170008 use 94170015 instead this is what most of us 0008 guys switched to its mitsu final flash for the P0300 fix. I agree much easier to do ROM patches for everyone when 98% or so of the cars are on the same ROM. All in all I think this is an excellent idea. Kudos Dudical

94170008 is by far the most common, but 94170015 was the last specifically for the 8.. Sadly I still run the older rom.

I think the organization will be great.. Especially since I have some info and announcements to post at some point in the near future that I don't want to have drop off the radar.

Once there are standard rom version, the patching process will be MUCH easier for the end user. You should have to do almost nothing but download a couple files and transfer your map over to the latests tephra rom.

ECU definition files and evoscan settings files will be already editing for each of the standard rom version and will be able to be downloaded as well. Instead of having to manually edit them. (Ted B's idea)
