Evoscan to datalog before tuning?

I am going to be getting my IX tuned from Mellon tuning and I was wondering if I could get evoscan before and just use it for datalogging to check knock, and other peramiters just to see what I'm at now? Is there another program I could use to check where I'm at now that gives real time data? I just don't want to be putting a bunch of bolt ons and hope that its all fine until my tune is done. I know its lot of newb Q's but I'm just trying to learn ECU's now.

yes you should get Evoscan, or Mitsulogger to log your car, reguardless if its stock or not. Especially if its stock!

you can get Evoscan here:
http://www.limitless.co.nz/

You should also consider Ecuflash as well for flashing the car once you have made changes to your ROM.

you can get it here:

it's a good idea to go ahead and get the tools listed on my website to get familiar with logging and your car. Also watch the video tutorial www.mellontuning.com

This will also speed up the tuning process when you're ready because often during the first few revisions I'm spending time teaching people how to log properly.

Thanks Chris, this is Jay, I emailed you last week asking a similar question, thanks for the info. I see that the Tactrix OpenPort 1.3U Universal for Mitsubishi is not in stock, do you know where else I can get this cable at?

Do I need the OpenPort 2.0 with Full Adapter Set or just the Tactrix OpenPort 1.3U Universal for Mitsubishi, or is it the same?

oh hey Jay, I didn't put that together

the Tactrix OpenPort 1.3U Universal or Mitsubishi will work if you can find one but they've been superseded by the new OpenPort 2.0 apparently which is twice the price unfortunately

Get it... I have it as well and it's a peace of mind knowing you can log your own car to see hows it's doing.

If you don't want to pay twice the price for the OpenPort 2.0, just buy the cable here..

Are there any advantages of the 2.0 over the 1.3? I will be using it to datalog to get a tune from Chris at Mellon tuning and upload new map. I will also use to datalog after the tune, just to keep an eye on everything, I'm a Aircraft Mechanic so I gotta have all the data to see whats going on. lol

information is power.

having a baseline is criticial, otherwise how can you tell how much you have improved?

also you can keep Chris in-line just so he does his job :P hehe j/k you are in great hands!

I always ask my customers to log some runs per-tune so I can give them a before after comparison DLL plot

1.3 is all you need...
