The best knock is 0 knock. With 8 and 9 counts, your ECU is pulling timing like crazy. I suggest a new tune with a COMPETENT tuner, and to never let whoever told you 8 or 9 counts of knock is fine touch your car.

hit him in the face 8 times

tell him knocksums are like punches to the face. you want ZERO if you can. So if he says 8 is ok, then hit him in the face 8 times. its hard or nearly impossible to get 0 everytime. But 1-2 on ocasion is nothing to be alarmed at. 8 at any time is BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD

do what lemmonhead said...PUNCH the tuner in the face the amount of times your car knocked. you want 0! thats what people tune for! 0 knock counts = best. 1-2 counts = ok...hope you get that tune worked out...

It all depends on when the knock happens. If it happens when you first roll into it, when shifting, or if you part throttle, and it rapidly decays i wouldnt be as worried as if it happened the entire pull.

It never ceases to amaze me what some "Tuners", from what we think is a respectable shop, will tell you, when they know you dont know enough to call them out on it! My first experience was as bad as this if not worse, cause the tuner didnt even tell me **** about my tune. Intake, DP, CB, FP. Here ya go 15hp and 20tq increase from stock!

I would talk to this so called tuner and see if you can get this squared away, but then again do you really want some1 like this to touch your car again... Anything over an "occasional" 1-2 counts is unacceptable from a "pro tuner". I would recommend getting the equipment needed to flash and learn to do it yourself. If I can do it, so can you or any1!!!

We don't remember ever seeing any knocksums out of the ordinary from any of our Milwaukee customers.

If we have tuned the car, send us a datalog. If not, then best of luck.

0-3 sums is about as much as we tolerate.

Furthermore, you might take a second look at your mod list if your car is not at its potential.

Knock cyl temps and pressures depend on the HP/liter. Stock evo's probably knock like mad from the factory

I would assume it depends on exactly where you live, what fuel, and what ambient air temps, but here I have seen bonestock evo's that knock up to 10 counts and others that are absolutely quiet except they'll knock up top or down low but not both.
