On my 03 the table looks like this:

And the results are very predictable, at temps over 30C (86F)it's 1 degree less than on the hi octane table.

Hmm maybe I have the wrong temp address for the 0015 rom...

I've never logged -1 retard of the high octane temp at only 86F intake temps however. The dyno room regulary is above 90F

Yeah for me its airtemp.

There is another table for coolant temp...

Why do you suppose Mitsi want to retard timing when its stone cold.
Burn times are usually longer when cold, so I would have expected an increment in timing to compensate.

Any long term tuners have a handle on this?

One of the big reasons for retarded timing when cold, like the cold ignition maps recently found, is to heat up the cat convertor as quickly as possible, reducing emissions.

Agreed, but thats not what this little table is about I think.
Seems counter-intuitive.
But then a lot of the maps/tables etc are there for emissions, and may not yeild good drivability.

Yeah this map isn't for cold-start retard ...

What about air density/pressure vs temp...?

You're thinking like I am, I wonder if it is a reference table for something else?

Haven't we (cough, cough) seen these tables before somewhere else?

There are 4 tables. The ignition trim vs air temp is one and is only active above engine load corresponding to its 2D control map. Go punch some large numbers into it and test it as I did. Try -10, -15, or larger across the board and do some testing, and you will soon see how it works.

hey mattjin, your thread was linked earlier in the thread.

I am by no means trying to take credit for finding this table. I couldn't find a table to save my life, I just use them.

I just wanted to see if the gurus could figure out the lookup sequence for it.

What 2D control map?

Nah, I am just stirring things ;-)

This should be the control map. The trim is only active is the load is above the map value. When I found the trim map I was confused at first as to why it didnt do anything. Then when I went for a drive it would start working above a certain load. Then I found the map that was with it controlled this. The actual RPM scale address may be incorrect, but the values are correct from what I have seen. Dont have the time to search more thoroughly for the correct address.

For 88590015:

<table name="Ignition Trim vs Air Temp - Above Load" category="Timing" address="3ca8" type="2D" level="1" scaling="Load8">
<table name="Engine Speed" address="6b7a" type="X Axis" elements="10" scaling="RPM"/>
</table>
