264s to an already tuned Evo 8.

I just added 264 cams to an evo that was previously tuned for the following.

Walbro 255
K&N drop-in
Lower IC pipe
3" TBE w/ cat

I feel that it would more beneficial and logical if I were to learn the tuning process since I plan on adding parts one at a time.
I've read nj1266's "How To Tune an Evo" thread at least 15 times.
I've been using Mitsulogger for last year. I just purchased Evoscan a week ago and intend to use that since it seems to be the logger that most ppl are using.

All I'm asking for is for a slight nudge in direction if I start to get too far off track.

I'm going to go out for a log session, record a few runs, post the logs, and post where and how much of a change I'm going to make.

Adding cams will affect VE. Thus engine load will change. You will need to relog and retune for appropriate loads and boost drop.

OK, I made 6 runs. 3 of them using mistulogger and 3 using evoscan.
I'm able to view the logs ( Logging/Open Lof File In Graph..
Do I have to save a screenshot to post the image of the log on here?
How do you save the image of the viewable graph? I'm a little more fluent with mistulogger.

Viewing the logs, knock starts at 3,000 rpm, jumps to (3) by 3,100, then to (4) by 3,400. Tapering back off to (3) by 3,800, (2) by 4,600 and then to (1) by 5,300, until 6,000 where it stops.

My assumption is that I should try taking out a degree of timing in this area based off of nj1266's MTBT (Minimum Timing Best Torque)

That's not the log. It's an example from nj1266's "How To Tune an Evo" post.

I'm still messing with evoscan, trying to find a way to save an image of a graph.

Removed 1deg of advance in 2 areas and knock is limited to 1 count here and there, non consistent.

Do you have to do anything for idle with 264s?

264 cams are idle like stock so no need to modify the idle. Your car may run a little leaner from the previous tune so take s look so see if it's ok. Basically, your power shifted a little bit to the higher rpms side.
How much boost are you running?

You have to hit "print screen" and then paste the image into MS Paint, or Photoshop or whatever and crop it etc.

As far as posting your logs, just use .csv files. Its not a big deal to open them up and look over them. It doesnt have to be in a graph. Just take out all of the irrellevant data. Also, you should be able to get more help by posting logs. Do you have a WB?

Jid2,
Got it.

Charlie B,

I have an LC-1. I got some 316ss TIG rod yesterday to weld the bung, so that's finished. However one of the DP to O2 bolts was missing when I went to remove the DP. When the bolt and spring comes in from JNZ, I'll be ready to get down once again.

All three runs were on a fully warmed up engine. What confuses me is why the logs are inconsistent?

From here I intend to pull a degree of timing in the problem areas. Now, should I also decrease timing in the adjacent cells, also since it pulls data from the next cell up or down if it's in between load %?

^you went WOT a little early. Try dropping the hammer around 2500-3200 rpms and log 2-3 times. I hope you have boost and afr.
