The file is not in the evoscan folder. opening it wherever it put it when I downloaded it. It didn't give me an option to put it anywhere. It went into a temporary internet file folder.
Then take it out. That's your problem it needs to be in the EvoScan folder. That is what I have been saying. Take the file out of the temp internet files folder, put the EvoScan.eve file in the EvoScan folder. Then it will work.

I'm converting to SD in the next week or so, so I need to have as many logs as possible to go over for a smooth conversion. Having them open in excel is obviously the most accurate way to view.
I believe Hamish has addressed this before. I think he said it's a Vista issue. What you do is go to one of the "Analyse" option when the window pops up to select the file. just select the file, don't open it....and then in the window drag it to the desktop icon on the left hand side of the window next to documents and pictures short cuts. In fact you can drag it to any folder and it will then send the file to that folder and you can open in in Excel from there.

Here is a screen shot of what to do:

Just select and drag the file to the desktop icon on the left and it will send the file there and you can open it...

Isn't that what ECUFlash is for? Don't you use EvoScan to log, ECUFlash to edit and flash?

Then I might as well just have the laptop in the car all the time and not have bothered with the GPS/Logger. For me the point was to stop using my laptop all together and allow me to tune and tweak on a more continuous basis without having to PLAN to do it by lugging out the laptop and sitting it on my seat.

Oh and in case there was any confusion my comment about map editing is aimed at the EvoScanPPC on the GPS/Logger and not EvoScan for windows on a laptop.

I don't have an evoscan folder. I only have the files in a "downloaded" folder.

That's your problem. EvoScan is looking for files you don't have. The folder has all the data files it says are missing. You need to run a full install then. Did you buy a full version? There should have been a full installer file, and a folder created when you used the file it gives you after you buy the full version.

Would you like to just connect one cable from behind the dash to the EvoScan GPSNav?
Consider purchasing a mini usb extension cable from your local electronics store:

Hey Hamish ... was that on the web page the whole time? I spent like an hour searching for that cable :O hahaha

I paid the 25 bucks and ran the full install the first time. I have 2.6 beta18. I went and tried to drag the file over, but it didn't let me know that it did anything. I did it a second time and it stated the file already exists.

Where is the v2.6b18 file or folder located? Because that wouldn't work either if you didn't have an EvoScan folder...

Okay so here is the thing you need the folder and files in the most forward window. Look at the location of the files in address bar. See I have the Zip open in the download folder and I have my EvoScan folder that is in the Program folder. The back window is the zip file. What you do is drag the single file from the zip and replace the EvoScan.exe file in forward window. You don't a folder like this? If you don't you didn't install the first EvoScan correctly.
