The definitive EcuFlash Evo 10 thread
My car is in the shop getting tons of work, as I had a nice 4-wheeling accident on track. So I've been talking to Hamish the past week or so and should be sending my ECU for a trip overseas to him. Should be sent out in the next day or to and hopefully he can work his EvoScan magic on the X.

Last few months? You mean as in "July"?
I'm usually pretty patient, but "since July" to now is getting me a little antsy.
Keep in mind that I realize that it's "freeware", but also only if you buy the cable, so it's not completely "free" (nor should it be).
I'm just kinda ticked that it's been on the "verge of release" for this long--not at them, but just in general. Why not be like AEM with the EMS system back in the day and release it in a far-from-done BETA with plenty of warnings, and a clickable disclaimer so that more heads are working on the bugs?

Well, if they become a multi-billion dollar company with a product that a majority of the people in the western hemisphere use and are already trying to improve a product that has become mainstream, then fine.
Let's add to that: If they're coming up with an IMPROVED version of something that already works (computer=Evo X) then it wouldn't be as bad.
End result, your analogy = Apples vs. Torque Wrench.

2007 Nov Launch of Evo X
2008 Feb USDM gets the 1st few units?
2008 May OP2.0 and possibility of ECUFlash on X
2008 Jul Software ready but need beta testers
2008 Aug ROM extracted and disassembly started
2008 Sep Some tuning maps located some issues discovered
2008 Oct More tuning maps more issues discovered
2008 Nov Most tuning maps located issues being tested
2008 Dec Most issues resolved ..
I think less than 6 months on a 'freeware' is very good to me ..
ECUflash has to work not only with Mitsubishi, but a host of other cars including backward compatibility with the older cables .. plus not ALL versions of X for now ..
I guess you should have a working version later rather than working on it early and running into problems later (like IE 7
)Its worth the wait
My local tuner here in ABQ (CamTuning)has the beta already, so he has the ability to flash, he's just waiting on the datalogging software... waiting patiently... I need a tune!!
