BTW, Bryan what software are you using to log the Evo X?
It's actually not too bad up top for a stock car that drops to 13psi or so.

Remember this is a whole new motor with different tuning strategies than the 4G63. If you try to tune it like you know a 4G63 should be tuned you won't make any power. They take a bit more timing then our beloved 4G63s.

Using PCMscan for logging for now.

The AEM intake has a larger Maf housing so it screws with the MAF a bit and the car actually sees lower loads than with the stock Maf housing, one of the big reasons the intake leans the car out so much.

Are you going to do a how to tune write-up for the 4b11? I would do one if I had access to a X. Maybe next year I will buy one and start tinkering with it.

What parameters can you log with PCMscan?

Last I heard PCMscan didn't log knock on the X though....

Good to know So the car runs leaner, but it runs more timing than stock due to lower load. Is that causing knock on untuned cars?

Currently the only loggers that can log knock on the X is EcuTeks logger and Cobb Tunings logger.

Yup and yes I have seen knock on untuned cars with mods, even 100% stock 10's, the usual.

So are u using Cobb's data logger too or are u not watching knock at the same time u are using PCMscan? Just curious how u tune for knock and all the other good stuff.

So at part throttle it might give 10% more to make the car feel "peppier". Do you know if you can go over 100% in those cells?
Can someone explain the throttle tables a little further? What does changing the values actually accomplish? Does the ECU target the TPS selected based on the rpm/load it is currently seeing? If so, wtf does the actual pedal do!?!

So we will be able to get around the torque limiters for the MR then? Yay! Let's break some SST's

Razorlab What a/f mixture are you targeting with the X? I think I recall seeing vivid racing running a little leaner than usual when they first started tuning the X.

You truely do not need something that can log knock. If you follow the timing charts and then you see it jump down closer to the lower timing table.... you know it knocked. That is how mitsu has always did their knock acknowledgment by dropping timing.

Its better to be able to log knock.

That is true but it's a little old school for the EvoX. There are other factors that can cause the EvoX ECU to pull timing besides knock.

Thats how the subaru guys tune. It is a very archaic way of determining knock and if it pulls 1-2 degrees it may be interpolation. you also don't really know the severity of the knock.

Well, yes. Of course, it is better to see exactly how much knock there is. I was just saying that by the use of interpolation you can SEE in the timing curve if it knocked or not and it is very possible to tune that way. And since evoscan isn't out yet and if you don't have access to the ecutek or cobb loggers you have no other way.

once upon a time I had no choice but to tune by watching the timing and NB02 good times this brings back memories
