ECU Corrupted – need HELP rom# 96420008
No problem Kevin, I like challenges. I know when my rom got corrupted, I too couldn't sleep at night wondering what the hell was going on with my car. I will have to admit, I liked the way the cars looked sitting there next to each other.
Somewhat off topic but,
Why would you want to change the ecu id? When I pull up my rom and some others, it doesn't even have one. What's the point is what I guess I'm asking.

I just want to let everyone know what I've learned from this whole thing
1. some '03 and '04 Evo's using ECU Flash can have the issue where when you go to retrive the data you loaded it will appear scewed (in my case the ignition tables had the X and Y axis values all random) but it was entered correctly. I learned that while it appears to be corrupted, so long that you entered it with the right values, its ok. this just seems to happen with some '03 and '04 Evo's when you retrive the data from the ECU.
2. I also lost the immobilizer code in this whole process - long story - but I also learned and will confirm tomorrow that the mitsu dealership can re-flash your car with the orignal factory flash using your VIN# and it includes the orignal immobilizer code. This would essentially be a fresh start! Another option presented to me by GSRboi80 was "You need to find/make a buddy with a mitsu scan unit. You can set whatever immobilizer you want to the ECU and have them program the key to match."
Hope this information can help other
