Help a noob with Evo 8 JDM

Hey guys ive been looking around this forum for hours and cant seem to find the answer to my question.
I have a cable etc. evo scan and open ecu . Im trying to work out how to download my current ecu via open ecu it keeps telling me uknown rom file. ?
Is there a noobies guide on this ? ive tried to find out what number my rom is but how do i do this ?
I maybe miss reading but they say find out the number on your ecu rom and you can get a xml file to suit.

Thanks in advance.

By the way its a Evo 8 03 JDM

Cheers

ok ive been reading reading reading .
One thing i cant work out is. .... ... ... ...

I can save my map from my car thats cool . it just wont let me view it .
No where in any documents does it tell you how to open your map if the map is unknown ?
Is that why i have to download the map to suit my car and i have viewed the site with all the maps on it . but how do you match them up ?

unknown means that ecuflash doesn't have a definition for it.

so u need to find a definition - but u need to know the ROMID before that.

go throw the wizard and when it asks you for a identifier position (address) put in 0xf52 and length of 4.

then the romid should be displayed...

It will be something like 96260007 for your car
