Disabling EGR and fuel pressure solenoids
ok, after some more disassem of the EGR routines, I have found that Periphery 0 (FAA) bit11 does not actually shut off the EGR system until the coolant temp passes ~68C. Its ok to use if you plan on ripping out all the EGR stuff. However, it turns out that there is a byte length value that completely disables the EGR system and is a better choice to use.
For USDM Evo 8 94170008-15 use:
<table name="EGR System Enable/Disable" category="Emissions EGR" address="103D" type="1D" level="2" scaling="uint8"/>
For USDM Evo 8 96420007-11, 96940011, USDM Evo 9 88590013-15, and EDM Evo 8 96530006 use:
<table name="EGR System Enable/Disable" category="Emissions EGR" address="1041" type="1D" level="2" scaling="uint8"/>
A value of "0" disables the EGR system and sets the EGR duty to 0% all the time. "1" enables the EGR system.

Hmm I removed my egr & my evap solenoids..egr block off and vacuum lines all gone
BUT...I have a bolt in my evap line coming from firewall, this pic showes to have it vent. Is that correct?

ok i know that i don't have an evo but i just got the p0401 code, and instead of finding the problem can i just remove it all like you guys. and can the cel light cleared from the dash...thanks in advance.
maybe you have a faulty egr or a hose lose coming off the valve
Has anyone had any luck with fixing the warm-up idle issues associated this mod ? I haven't taken off anything yet, but have altered the periphery bits, per this thread. I have the worst cold start idle. After it warms up (WTF I'm in Florida, and it's 80 friggn degrees) she idles fantastic. Thank you.
Did you use this code from mrfred ? or has it worked well all along ?

ok I skimmed this thread for the first time... I have a question, Im not sure if it was asked, or I just missed it, but when you turn off the egr and evap via periphery bits, is it necessary to pull out the solenoids? Im assuming no.
Reason Im asking is, I decided to try and disable the egr this morning, (periphery FAA bit 11 set to 1) and the car idled lil POOP!(cold start) It was dipping as low as it could go w/ out stalling... I just flashed back and set the egr advance to "0" in the actual map. (Evo IX)
After actually readin this thread, it appears I need to let it warm up... I couldnt even tolerate the cold start idle. I also read that I would need to disable the actual test by FCA bit 9, as well as the evap bits...
Has any1 used the new definition from mrfred?

For anyone that looped your EGR - you just created a big vac leak around your throttle body! (see lines W and Y) - (Adjusting the BISS/SAS might fix this but it is obviously not ideal.)

I thought this was the case but i didn't have any diagrams before. I'm doing a writeup on the blockoff. I'll throw it up here for review before I submit the how-to.
