im just wondering, is it necessary to vent to the engine bay? installing a breather filter on line 2 and capping 1 should suffice? ...less clutter in the engine bay this way

mrfred, are you sure about 1041 being correct for 96530006? It actually looks like 103d might be the right address for that ROM.

You're right. I didn't actually check that one. I just assumed it would the same as all the later US variants. I'll fix up my original post in a few minutes.

Does this code change also apply in the OBD Inspection thread? https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...-mrfred-8.html?

Nope. They have nothing to do with each other.

probobly a dumb question,
but since moving to the V7 rom w/ the EGR bits disabled, (decided to see if the car liked it) is there any issues w/ disbling the EGR w/ out a block off late, and leaving the solenoids? The reason to get rid of the solenoids, is to save weight, right? I started reading up on this last night, but didnt come across this question/answer. I probobly need to re-read both threads...

The car seems fine. Havent done any pulls yet...

TIA

You can just disable it. There is some discussion that it might be able to blow open under high boost, but that is not confirmed.

Additionally, removing the solenoids and other parts reduces the clutter and chances of a vac line blowing off.

The last option is to leave it all there and do the "tin can mod" (aka slice your fingers off mod) and just make an EGR gasket that does not have openings on it. Really though, the blockoff plates are only ~$5.

For USDM Evo 8 94170008-15 and EDM Evo 8 96530006 use:

<table name="EGR System Enable/Disable" category="Emissions EGR" address="103D" type="1D" level="2" scaling="uint8"/>

For USDM Evo 8 96420007-11, 96940011, and USDM Evo 9 88590013-15 use:

<table name="EGR System Enable/Disable" category="Emissions EGR" address="1041" type="1D" level="2" scaling="uint8"/>

A value of "0" disables the EGR system and sets the EGR duty to 0% all the time. "1" enables the EGR system.

Oct 4, 2009 - Fixed to show that the EDM Evo 8 96530006 address is 103D instead of 1041.
Thx MrFred.

I have two cars here, EDM Evo9's using the stock ROM 88840016, and they both have Magnus intakes on.

"USDM Evo 9 88590013-15 use:

<table name="EGR System Enable/Disable" category="Emissions EGR" address="1041" type="1D" level="2" scaling="uint8"/"
I am going to try the above on them to see if I can get rid of the EGR/EVAP error codes.
Can you please confirm that the "1041" address is correct for the 88840016 ROM.

Thx.
