Has anyone tried to run their US Evo 9 with a JDM Evo 9 ROM (ie 88570008)?
The immobiliser code doesn't matter, it doesn't check the rear O2 sensor, it is ready to go with 3 bar MAP and MAT.
There are twin boost solenoids, but it doesn't mind if one or either are disconnected.
It has a secondary air system rather than EGR, but it is just an actuator, no sensors, I doubt it would complain if not present.
It runs OBD-II, would be interesting to see if it is detailed enough for your emissions.
I have been able to test the comms with US Evo 9 and JDM Evo 8 code running in my JDM Evo 9 ECU, but neither will start my engine, maybe because of the immobiliser not being present on JDM 9.
Secondly, JDM 8MR code will run satisfactorily in our Evo 8 260 and JDM Evo 8 non-MR.
With patches getting more complex, can we sort out the minimum set of ECUs to code for?

Awesome. I will setup a rom so i can drive home on it.
Need me to log anything specific or just the normal load and watch for weird knock?
I assume if it starts it should be fine.

If it starts just look and log for anything odd, read out any fault codes if there is a CEL.
Might be worth a look at the US 9 wiring diagram to see what is different from JDM, I think some of the US 9 diagrams in circulation are based on the JDM model anyway, with a few pin changes.

i have a JDM Evo IX went to 88580014.
so technically a Ecu switch should not be an issue?
the twin boost solenoids wont give any trouble without being connected - no CEL
no rear O2 - modded my new rom to do a 02 delete.
i have heard the EGR does not create any CELs when not present or deactivated.
when i went to the new rom i had to do the immobiliser code delete. (not sure if this is JDM related).

rolly, was there a problem running JDM code, or was it just a patch you wanted on 8858?
Remind me of the periphery bit for immobiliser, I pointed someone to it on aktivematrix, but I can't log on there to get attachments anymore, Jack was going to fix it, btu didn't get around to it.

I don't remember the exact periphery bit, but if you change from 56D8 to 56D0 it removes it. I think it removes the rear 02 as well (or does 56D8 already have it removed? Can't remember).
no my car worked fine on the JDM rom, i can send the rom if you like.
for some reason every tuner i went with experienced problems with the JDM rom, hence i changed to 88580014, plus it has all the tephra's mods and boost control already....
oh yeah u will need to rescale injectors, i had to due to the map switch. JDMs need to be scaled to 552

see the first page of the post above. hope it helps.

Mike, I doubt it, but to my shame I can't find the solenoid on mine to unplug to test.
One thing that 88570008 doesn't have is the top clutch switch wired in as standard. Something I've been meaning to get around to. Would be interesting if it works on a US car.
