Weird 96940011 to 96530006 issue

I recently switched to the 9653006 rom and updated just the fuel and timing maps, and the immobilizer hack. Car started up got CEL, adjusted BISS no more CEL. Ran fine with recirced Synapse BOV, but was running way rich (9s) at WOT. Did a boost leak test and found that the synapse was leaking quite bad, so I took it off to send back to Synapse as it looks to be a manufatures defect... completely different thread though. Anyway when i put my old HKS SSQV back on for the time being... mind you I never had any problems with VTA with the 96940011 rom with the stalling or idle. With the HKS SSQV VTA'd on the 96350006 rom I had all sorts of problems with idle and cruise, has anyone else experienced this? Also I don't really need the map switching and stuff but there is one thing that I did like about the Tephra Mod V5.10 and that was the two separate knock lights... Would there be anyway to update the old Knock CEL patch with the two separate knock lights (slow and fast) for the 96940011 rom?

You really shouldn't vent to atmosphere. As long as you do this, all bets are off with idle and stalling. Also helps to have the valve cover vent plumb back to the intake I hear...

I doubt anyone is going to backport that knock patch for you... especially with the new universal rom.

Knock light only patch is available here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...ded-knock.html

I'd stop VTA'ing... I bet thats your problem.

---------------

Side note, if the Synapse was recirculated you shouldn't have been going that rich because of it. If you are recirculated the air is already metered. Are you sure you tested it properly? Can you provide a link to the other thread about that (if there is one)?

It should be very difficult for that BOV to leak simply based on its design. It technically holds itself closed (like flipping the stock BOV)...

I'm in the same boat as you. I tried the 006 ROM because I wanted the 2 stage knock light. After flashing the car with the 006 ROM, the car would stall when coasting in neutral or coming to a stop. Even flashing back to the 011 ROM didn't fix the idle issue. Before all this, the car had no issue at all with idle. I guess it could be the IAC going bad causing the idle problem but it all started right after flashing with the 006 ROM.

I too would like to see if Tephra can add the 2 step knock light for the 011 ROM.

Reset your ECU after you flash, you idle trims are all wacked switching between ROMS. Did you adjust your BISS after you switched to the 006 ROM?

I did reset the ECU but I did not adjust the BISS. Didn't feel I needed to because it was able to maintain the idle at a stand still. Just not coasting in neutral or coming to a stop. Once the car stopped, engine dies but if restarted, it will idle.

But the strange thing is even with the 011 ROM, it is behaving the same way now and it was fine before the switch to 006. I've tried everything I can think of except for forking over the $$$ for a new IAC and see if that is the problem.

Yes... I know I shoudln't VTA... however that isn't the point, I had no problems with the 0011 rom, and have problems with the 0006 rom. Yes I reset my ecu, Yes I adjusted to BISS going from one rom to the other each time, and let it idle for 15 minutes afterwards also. My car just seems to like the 0011 rom better thats all...

And to fostytou, it is a gasket seating problem... they are sending me another new gasket today. I am gonna go and pick one more up from ace hardware and try a few of thier recommendations and see if I can't get it to work...

I have idle issues also. I just deal with it. I have adjusted the BISS and eliminated the CEL but it does like to stall. I figured it was a combination of the ETS intake pipe, filter and the 006ROM.

Even on staying on the same rom I've run into a better idle by adjusting the BISS after putting on a hard intake.

Try adjusting the BISS to slightly over your target idle RPM. Maybe it will fall to an expected area for the ISCV that is higher and then settle at the proper idle RPM. Thats not ideal, but its better than stalling and seems like a mechanical/tune problem outside of the differences between ROMs.

everyone Ive seen with the 0006 rom has stalling issues. Im running the map-maf patch and recently installed a aps twin vent and my stalling issues are gone. The patch took care of 80% of it.
