Your making more power going that route? Compared to 22 psi and a few degrees less timing.

[QUOTE=03whitegsr;7157398]Aren't you guys a little too focused on trying to run XX boost instead of trying to figure out where the car is actually the fastest? Tune the car well at say 20 psi, 22 psi, 24 psi, etc then go to the track and do several runs at each boost pressure. You may just find that on a smaller turbo, the lower boost actually makes the car just as fast, but greatly reduces the stress on everything.

finally an intelligent answer

big boost on little turbo means ur blowing hot air run less boost and more timing u get more torque and useable power

To a point, yes. Running over 26psi is probably a point of diminishing returns but I really dont think you make enough up under that to say that running 22psi and more timing is better than 26 and less timing.

22psi is too much for me on the stock turbo (no porting or water/meth)

My point is that blindly setting a boost level and thinking it's the best is stupid.

Testing will revile what is actually the best for your particular setup.

I completly agree. Every car is different. some will like more boost and less timing, while others will like less boost and more timing.

Only through tuning will you find that balance.

In my case I raised the boost because of my mods and then tuned, which requred reducing the timing, to where I am content. Sure there may be some power left on the table, but I am not one to push to the limits. Safe and relaible is where it is at.

Had to revive this too see what are the views now on 0 - 1 degree timing at peak torque and melting components at the track (prolonged wot). Did the OP solve his problems?

question for you guys, when its mentioned that you guys have 3-4 degrees of timing at peak tq and 14 up top for example, does that mean 3-4 degrees/14 degress of timing advance on the timing map? So +14 over what it is stock?

In the map, not plus...

Did this ever get solved? I'm on 93 oct. cossie m2 cams and fp red. I am at 24-25 psi and can only run 1-2* peak tq and 7* at 7500 rpm. Anything more and I pick up 4+ counts of knock. Making 375whp and 345wtq. Raising the boost doesn't do much and lower boost with more timing doesn't make more then 345whp 310ishwtq

Can you post a log and a screen shot of your timing map?
