....so its getting closer but still too high. Will have to get the car weighed sometime and enter an accurate weight.

on MLR we use a 'fudge' factor to calculate power at the fly which is 24%

so this now puts me at 379 bhp (flywheel)
and 370 lb/ft (flywheel)

We need more guys in the uk using this software and comparing to dynos here.

Damn, I think most of the stock Evo 8's that were tested in all of the magazines here did around 240whp on a dynojet, which is roughly 15% powertrain loss.

mmm....lots of people argue it but I think 24 was what the majority agreed on.

here is just one thread of many on there
http://www.lancerregister.com/showth...t=fudge+factor

haven't read this one myself yet.

Crank HP is kind of irrelevant anyhow. It's all about what you're putting down on the ground.

which dyno correction factor are you using? I would set it to dynojet and add 5-6% to the WHP to get approximate Engine Power.

maybe my drag and area settings are wrong.

No friggin' way. There is NO way an AWD drivetrain only has 5-6% of power losses. 15% would be the MINIMUM.

thats what I estimate with my car - I am making over 385HP on dynojet on my runs and believe that my car is around 400HP = what I got on our local dyno. I would love to believe that the losses are 15% - that would put me at 440HP. BBK + usual boltons w/t HKS Exhaust... I am not saying the car has only 5% drivetrain losses, rather the dynojet figures are generous.

I love VDR as it basically show how fast a car accelerates and is a fair comparison. Just think that the dyno figures are. This is the best way to compare cars - just put the same weight for each car you compare with and you shall see who would be faster (assuming both have been in same temp and road conditions)

My theory is that the drivetrain losses are not constant - you loose a bunch at the beginning but not loose as much as you add on power.

I agree. I don't like the idea of assuming my car at 450whp is making 550-600 bhp. I just don't think that's the case.

Since we know that on, say a Mustang Dyno, a stock 286 bhp Evo makes about 226 whp, I think it's safer to just add 60 to your whp and use that as your bhp estimate, rather than to say it's a 20% difference.

On a DynoJet that a stock 286 bhp Evo makes, say, 256 whp, we can add 30 to get bhp. That seems more reasonable, at least that's my opinion.

Look for test results with power curves of engines on an engine dyno, then installed in a car on a chassis dyno. The power curves are almost identical except the chassis dyno's #'s are lower obviously. This shows that the drivetrain losses are generally consistent throughout the power curve. The higher the HP output, the larger the difference between the engine dyno and the chassis dyno....so you can't just add or subtract a specific #. It's a PERCENTAGE of power loss, not a set amount.

And hell if i take it to the track everyone will know what it traps and then that throws my street game all off.
What street game? Ricer flybys aren't really races ya know. And don't give us that crap about your phantom 4th gear grind, Mines been grinding for 4 years.

Maybe not 20+ cars...but 800whp will get him far enough ahead of you to make you look 'slow' in comparison lol.

Bneat is a friend of mine that's just trying to stir the pot and get me to take my car to the track. Not gonna happen till i get some slicks on it no matter how hard he tries If i go to the track i want to at least be able to have some sort of a chance at putting the power to the ground and making it worth my while. The car has some pretty bad traction problems to say the least.... Close to 800hp and regular ol radials "nexxen 3000s LOL" dont work well for drag racing and it doesnt take a genius to figure that one out. Needs more AEM boost control so i can at least progress it. In due time...

But at the end of the day its my $ and my car and ill continue to drive it everyday and enjoy it. And Bneat remember you do the ricer fly by racing every weekend with all of us... And it sure looks like 20 cars when we kick it off to me as its bad.. REAL BAD! Too bad i cant post up street racing vids on this forum as its against the rules here on EVOM or everyone could see and enjoy it! I heart ya all BFF like and all but your pushing it old man!

Ok so this is Jacks thread " a very good and informative one at that" so lets not turn it into a shat talking fest like the local crap forums around here.
