Evo8 ECU in a 1G DSM in the works!
Evo3--------Evo8
pin 40(wastegate sol.) ---- to pin 11
pin 8 (fuel pump relay) ----- to pin 22
pin 71 (gound) ---- join with wire at pin 26 (ground)
pin 33 (fuel press sol.) ---- to pin 3
pin 22 (AC comp.relay) + pin 11 (fan relay) ------- pin 8 (AC comp.relay)
pin 3+16 (rad fan high/low) -------- pin 32
add pin and wire to pin 79 (flash pin)
these are the changes I've made to swap E8 ecu in my E3. I think DSM's wiring should be pretty same
Right now my fans are wired to the temp sensor at the bottom of the radiator. They are both wired together so they turn on together. I also think my tune is a big contributor to my problems. I did have someone that would be able to tune it for me since im still a newbie on tuning a DSM. But he had to move back home to assist has father who's health was failing. So now I have to struggle through. I could use some help from someone out there, I really want to go through my tune and verify all my settings and would love someone with more experience to adjust my fuel and timing maps. I would be willing to donate some $ for someone to post me up a map to try and see how it works compared to mine or to just compare it to mine.
My mods now are very little, Since I am having issues I have it mostly stock again to get it running better on the EVO ecu then I will mod again. So I have and automatic 92 Talon AWD, with a 14B turbo and 450 Inj and a wally 255 FP, I have a stock down pipe to a 3 inch cat back with a test pipe and no cat. I have a translater and a 3 in GM MAS. I have replaced the stock Fuel filter with a high flow and a fuel pressure gauge. Lets see a punishment racing short route FMIC, an N/A throttle Body, I have put the battery in the trunk, pulled out all the EGR and extra vacum lines that are unneeded. cleaned up the engine bay nicely. My 92 has a 6bolt and a 4bolt rear diff. My boost controller is a greddy profec and its set to WG pressure right now. I boost and WBO2 guages. My intake is has an 2G MAF with filter, even tho I do not use the maf I have to have it there for the filter. Everything else is stock, If someone could help me out with a map to compare I would really appreciate it. Also I am running the 9563 rom on my ecu. I am thinking i maybe to lean, I didi notice after a light cruise around the neighbor hood that i lifted the hood and the hotside on the turbo was glowing a light red. And I was not even getting into it. Also I pulled the spark plug and it looked ok, not to hot. but My concern is when I had my HG installed the installer had an issue with the Cam angle sensor. He had the timing way off and had to adjust it. But he didnt use a timing light to set it properly. Well I hope someone can help so I can quit chasing the demon on this.. lol

what do you mean use the 2G maf? I think it would be alot of work to rewire the maf back in from the translator and the GM MAS. And to re scale the map for the 2G maf, What would I gain by doing that?
why change roms? I guess I just don't get it. Is there 1 that is better than the rest? Just got my 1g to idle. Have 12 codes.
Also, should I change my rom due to iac delete, pwr steering delete, maft, bigger injectors?

The only rom you want to use with an evo8 ecu conversion is any 9653***6 rom ID #. as stated before in this thread, it does the least amount of system checks so there are less check engine codes to worry about.

Search this ECUFLASH section for "Tephra Mod v7" and you can download the latest version (96530706 if you run a MAF and 96531706 if you wanna run Speed Density). The version 7 patch has all of the most current features and defined maps.

Id like to know how you guys are wiring up the cooling fans. I have the tables in my rom, i understand how all that works. I know which pin at the ecu i need. Problem is the stock temp sensor on a 1g in the rad sends ground to the fan relay once temp is hit. This is also tied to the AC side of the cooling system if you look in the FSM.
The PWM signal out a 0 state is ground. So just running this to where the temp sender was sending ground does not work. So how are you guys doing it?
My solution was to wire up a 5 prong relay. PWM signal from ECU to 85, 86 to switched power (probly tie it into the switched power to oem relay), 30 to ground, and 87a to OEM fan relay where the temp sensor is wired. That way the stock relay and the ac system side still see ground as if the temp sender was still doing its job.
Thoughts? Opinions? An easier way?

Ok guys tried to run MrFreds Closed Loop WB patch found here
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...o2-system.html
I got 2 codes once i enabled this patch, one for insufficient coolant temp and the other for the alt ground. Once i disable this patch im CEL free. Im running 96534706 ROM with AEM UEGO. Any suggestions? I had changed the 1mL and bL values accordingly. Is there a specific temp this patch needs to be set to? As curious as to why this is sending an Alt related code. When i disable the patch all is good.

Where are the tables for the cooling fans, I cant seem to find it?

You will want to search on here for Thermo Fan Duty, there are two of those tables to add to your XML's. These are found under miscellaneous in Ecuflash
Then theres also the AC fan control tables. And they are found under Fan Control in Ecuflash. I show 7 tables for AC fan control. Not sure which ROM you are using but you should be able to add these to the Base Xml. Like i run 96534706, they were added to the 9653 base xml.
