why should i get a evoscan?
why should i get a evoscan?
hello...
I have a question..i bought another evo and it has stock ECU only with a SAFC, my tuner told me that if i dont want to spend cash on a EMS i can get a tactrix cable...but i have some questions..
how many ecu flash programs are outhere?
which is the most user friendly
which is the one that i would use using tactrix?evoscan?
if i get the cable used where can I get the software?
what are the pro's and con's of using this over a EMS?
does the evoscan give you the option to flash the CEL on Knock?
what about If i want to return to stock map.?
does the software comes with a base map or i should start from the stock map,or from zero?
thanks in advance

EVOscan is a lot cheaper than an EMS and usually more user friendly, especially if you are a noob to tuning. You can find EvoScan online from some company called limitless, they are the only ones that sell it and it costs like 30 USD. So maybe 180 for a Tatrix cable, Evoscan and ECUflash as opposed to around 1500 for a good engine management system. So you will need the cable, Evoscan to read the tune and edit the maps, ECUflash to upload it to the ECU.
The only one people use around here is evoscan, or that is the only one I know of that is out and readily used. No tuning program is user friendly if you don't know what your doing, so be sure to read the ECU and tuning sections on here before you go playing with the tables in the ECU.
You can copy your current map on the car using ECUflash and save it to your computer so you can flash back whenever you need to. The flashin CEL on knock is not from one of those programs, it comes from the TEPHRAmod. It is essentially a patch that a user, tephra, has made to control certain things about the car, like the flashing of the CEL on knock counts.
The software does not come with a base map, you will have to pull yours and start from there. Users might be nice and send you one if you ask politely, but it will vary.
Good luck. Like I said, do some serious READING before you mess around in your cars brain. I don't want to sound mean, but it doesn't sound like you know what your doing with tuning, and trial by error without any knowledge can lead some pretty serious, and expensive problems...

There are lots of options! I personally use Logworks with the openport plugin. However you need an innovative product to use that program (LC-1/LMA-3/etc..) The LC-1 is a great wideband sensor with its dual programmable analog outputs. You NEED a wideband before you tune. Logworks is free too (but again, you need innovative hardware). EVOScan is my back up logger if i need to log a lot of stuff (logworks is limited to like 10 channels w/ the open port plugin). The log viewer in EVOScan is ok, if your good with excel, you will have no trouble. The Map tracer is handy too, but i never use it. Just look around the ECUFlash forum, lots of knowledge here!
thanks for your help..believe me im not tunnig the car..so the software to make the tune is evoscan? there are 2 versions of the cable, which one should i get? where can i get more info on the tephra?? is ecu flash another software?

^+1 ECU flash writes the ROM to the ECU and EvoScan datalogs what your fuel maps are among MANY other things. There is a thread on here, about the tehpra mod v7 search and read, there will be links to try it out also.

PS. All of your questions have been answered 1000x here and all over the net. Please search or read before piling on the heap.

Your only true flashing & tuning program is ECUFlash. It is free (supported by Tactrix cable sales). You cannot purchase a 1.3 cable from taxtrix directly (they phased them out), but they work together with the person who sells evoscan and he still sells the 1.xx cables as well as the 2.0 cables. If you purchase EvoScan with a cable you will get a small discount.
