Just had a great idea!(maybe)

Has anyone thought to try to use the output of their boost gauge's map sensor for map input rater than buying another map sensor to mount to the manifold? I was thinking of getting the AEM boost gauge that goes up to 50 PSI and I was thinking why couldn't I just tap into the sensor wire to get a map signal versus buying another sensor like the Omni 4 bar? Let me know what you guys think.

you can use ur avcr map sensor to hook up to the ecu.. i suppose u could do the same to get map. but u would need proper scaling for it for doing SD say

Sounds like a potential place to pick up error.

All the accuracy is pretty much dependent on the +5V and ground connections of the sensor and the gauge may not put out the same +5V as the ECU. Hell, it may not even be 5V. The ground plane could be at considerably different potentials too.

If you really wanted to do it, I'd probably throw some kind of analog buffer in there to run the gauge and use the ECU power supply to run the sensor instead of the gauge power supply.

AEM uses an external sensor with the Tru-boost to run more than 3 bar anyway. They charge you more for the additional sensor than the drop in (read- no wiring) Omnipower 4 bar.

I understand no wiring on the omni, but I would like to have a gauge as well. I know people have used the aem map sensor for sd, and given their boost gauge comes with an external map sensor I was thinking the output wire off of it could provide the voltage for both the gauge and the ecu.

You will also need to modify some tables in the ECU to calibrate sensor and have a good interpretation of the signal.

I am using avcr sensor for SD. no reason why you couldn't use any 0-5 map sensor really provided you scale it.
So ecu and avcr are both running off the same signal, beats having 2 map sensors I suppose.

Spot on in my opinion.

If I remember correctly the output on the AEM is serial anyway, not analog...

I guess I could always do a digital dash on a double din tv and just use the sensors that are logged through the ecu anyways.
