880cc Injector Cold Start Issue

Okay, ive been back and forth on this before, but i want to see if i can finally get a solution to this problem. Ever since i maxed out my stock injectors and moved to the 880cc injectors, every time i start my car from a cold start in the morning, i have to wait about 5 minutes for my car to fully warm up to drive it because if not my car just pretty much farts out of my neighborhood sounding like a Subaru and runs off the charts lean. It is very annoying considering in the morning im always in a rush to either get to school or get to work.

QUESTIONS:
My question is does anybody on here have after market injectors that run just like stock injectors on cold start where u just turn the car on and go?

Will a aftermarket ECU like AEM or Haltech fix this problem?

And will it be worse in the future if i upgrade to the ID2000 injectors because they are bigger?

I've got Deatschwerk 880's, and yeah, cold start my car sounds like crap for a few minutes. I live in AK so i usually let it warm up for ten minutes or so anyways.

Cold start/Warm start on low impedance is always the tune affecting how they run. Though I havent seen hem do this, the Id1000s have warm start issues that for some are apparently not tune related.

On the IX we have a map for "Max Rich AFR vs Coolant" this is a potential cause for the problem you are describing. Another thing you can do is set periphery 0 from 0x56DA or whatever you have it set at to 0x54DA.

What are your trims at on cold start? Adding a ton of fuel in?

IT gets rid of the warm start ignition subroutine. Seems to help with this problem though its only spark and not fuel. The main reason is the ignition being low (even out of boost) when its cold makes a car more miss prone and couple that to the Lean AFRs it makes all sorts of potential problems. Its one more thing that Mitsu does to protect the car. They assume that anyone that owns an Evo is going to rip on the car as soon as its started warm or not.

Dont know why they bother since they have never warrantied anything anyway.

General rant-

I wish manufacturers would just use standalones to begin and offer ZERO warranty. At least it would be honest and they give us the tools we need to begin with. Of course at this point its a moot point since the stock ECU is a standalone for all intense purposes.

Aaron, could you post the xml segment describing that "Max Rich AFR vs Coolant" table.
I presume its for 885900xx, not ever found it in my 88580013, would like to see it.

Sure. I'll have to grab it off my lappy. I was looking for it last night for the VIII but it seems to be more cleverly disguised than it was in the IX. I am also looking at this tune to see if there is anything that seems out of the ordinary.

Nomad, when warm what is it idling at AFR wise?

I dont know you, but good looking out Aaron! Since Ive joined the evo community I have noticed the abundance of "acts of good nature" towards other evo drivers....coming from the supra crowd, it was hit or miss..usually miss...lol

I dont quote my grandma often, but she would say this is just being neighborly.

Well they can be around here as well. I just dont like seeing people fighting problems and spending money to fix it when it isnt needed.

I do plenty of 880s and dont have any issues so I am thinking that while some of this is the normal lean AFR because of the hidden map in the VIIIs (or lack thereof) changing the tune up can make the rest of the difference.

No, just in general. Still not sure why yours is being silly. It looks spot on to how I set up most 880 cars other than the SD is a little different.
