V7 PSI based boost control

Let me start by saying thank you Tephra, MRFred, and everyone else in this awesome community who has contributed their time to expanding the evo community's knowledge base.

On to my question.

I've been using EBC (JDM Map, GM 3-port) for a few years now with various versions of Tephra and MRFreds patches; however, I recently have updated to the Tephra V7 and also the Rom with Mods from recompile.

Previously to tune boost you simply modded the Base WGDC% per RPM. Very simple table and worked well enough.

With the V7 you now have a PSI based, gear dependent boost control table, a Gear dependent WGDC table, and a Boost Desired Engine 'load' table.

Now I'm pretty sure that my modded rom makes it so I use the boost desired engine 'PSI' table, but the real question is whether or not I have to manipulate the WGDC table???

Tune the WGDC with boost error correction zeroed out to disable the psi (or load) correction. Once you get close to the psi per rpm via your WGDC adjustments, put your values back into the error correction table. The psi values along with the error correction will just maintain the boost to prevent overboost due to temp, etc. In other words the WGDC should be the main control of the boost.

Of course be careful when you disable the boost correction! Better to start a little low and work up. You will find that your WGDC will be higher for lower gears. It is a definate advantage to be able to tune psi for each gear vs one set of values for all gears.

I understand there is the boost error correction table, but what about the gear based PSI table, what do I do with that?

From that you can fine tune your psi per gear and rpm. With the psi gear table you can control the rate of boost per gear. Most tend to have the psi curve similar for each gear. Personally I have found that for instance the low to mid rpm for 5th gear can cause turbo flutter/surging iof you are too agressive. First gear on the other hand ramps up quicklyso I can throw more WGDC at it on 1st in low rpm. With my new cams I go through 1st very quickly

Can you post up all three of your tables the boost (psi), boost (load), and Main WGDC tables. That would help tremendously.

It was easier for me to make the switch to V7, as I was running PSI based boost control prior. All I did was copy my Baseline WGDC over exactly to the 3rd gear slot in the WGDC table, and increased the the duty cycle over all in the lower gears and decreased it over all in the higher gears. As far as the PSI table, I made all of the cells the same, 22.5 psi. The PSI boost adder should be set to your local atmospheric pressure. What you can do is zero out the BEC and then log boost in 3rd gear, then change the wastegate duty cycle for 3rd gear until you get the boost curve you want, then set up the rest of the table. Don't forget to put all the values back into the BEC table though.

I think you are confused, it is either boost or load tables but not both. If you set ECUflash to developer mode you will see the hooks you need to change to switch between them. See attached.

I will duplicate here my post from another thread (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...ml#post8838159) as it can be useful here as well.

Omnipower MAP-sensor, Grimmspeed 3-port BCS, Tephra v7 ROM with direct boost, DC Sports downpipe, everything else with the car is stock. I've tried for 1.3bar flat boost curve. So far it is quite close with following settings:

The boost curves are as follows:
