Most of ours are IXs. Not sure if it happens on the X.

Gary, This happened to my IX this weekend after i got my openport 1.3U cable from Chris at Mellon.

Got my 3-bar JDM Map and LC-1 WB all ready to go for datalogging but now have to wait on a new ETACS from Mitsubishiparts.net

I tried my cable again yesterday after pulling pin 9. It's reading/writing/logging fine - no more cooking ETACS units (phew!).

Good to hear eisen7! Looks like I'll be pulling mine out tonight.

BrdgstneEngr, you should still be able to log and flash your car just fine. Etacs ecu won't affect your tuning.

I was pretty paranoid about it. I even cut a small piece of electrical tape and put it over the broken off pin 9 - just in case it somehow sent some voltage into the OBD port!

I have the ETACS out right now, i prob need to put it back in before i reconnect battery or start car? So your saying just remove fuse to wipers and turn signals and i can datalogg until my unit arrives?

Yep, you'll need the ETACS unit in to drive and data log the car. That's what I was doing. And yes, I just pulled the fuses to whatever was malfunctioning. In my case it was the turn signals (fuse in box under the bonnet), and the rear wiper (fuse in junction box near pedals).

It wasn't ideal driving on the street with no turn signals, so I didn't drive it much. But you could certainly still log and flash it with the faulty ETACS unit plugged in.

You should have seen all the dirty looks I got cuz I was changing lanes with no signals lol.. I had no choice about it. Worst part is I had no power door locks and key fobs didn't work.

Good to hear the replaced ETACS module fixed your cars!!!

I ordered an ETACS for mine last night from mitsubishiparts.net. It may take forever but it is what it is. Im just glad I have another car to get to work and back.

And my pin9 has been removed and smashed!

I have the same problem now. Just got the cable 3 days ago. Car is now at my shop sitting there. After I reflashed the car nothing changed. Blinker stays on, rear wiper goes nuts, dumps all washer fluid, and door locks are dead.

I guess I have to change the unit now. This is bull**** that we are going to have to replace the ETACS units bc the cable fried them. I should have learned the first time, when my limitless cable left me stranded.

Anyone know a good place that has them for a good price? Everything I found shows they are about $300.

Hi Cyloc,

I agree man, sorry dude, that sucks, All openport 1.3U and 2.0 cables hold pin9 high at 12volts for Subaru reprogramming. I will investigate keeping pin9 held low at 0v volts, alternatively I will look at keeping pin1 out of diagnostics mode until necessary. I bet its the combination of being in pin1 diagnostics mode and the 12volts on the etacs pin9 line that has caused it since thats the only two wires going from the OBDII port to the ETACs ecu. It may have shorted out one of the transistors just inside the etacs box on that pin. Please send me your etacs ecus and I'll see if I can repair them.

Does this etacs unit match yours?

How to open Etacs case:

I did some investigation into the settings, they are still confirmed the same...
