I disconnected my battery before I replaced the etacs unit, just in case.

This happened to me on Friday evening while driving up to a racing event. Any news on repairing the ETACS?

Correction appears to be happening with Evo 7 and Evo IX SE/MR. No SSL's for now. How much does it cost to get your key reprogrammed.

EVOSCAN.......I will have my etac pulled tomorrow to send pictures of it.

I have pulled the fuses for the turn signal and the wiper for now. I am having problems now flashing the car. The ecu will not respond to ecuflash or evoscan. Anyone else have this? It could just be the normal ecuflash issues with the evo 9s. just curious.

the etacs should not be giving you problems with flashing or logging your car. Were you able to flash or log before this happend?

yes, I was able to flash before. I think it is just one of the ecuflash glitches with the evo 9s. The car has been sitting for a few days and the battery may be weak. I am going to put a jump pack on her tomorrow and see what happens. Plus I have downloaded new versions of all the programs and the updated drivers.

yep that's probably it. Ecuflash and evoscan won't connect if the battery voltage is too low.

I am still using old ecuflash and evoscan programs, mainly because I like to stick with what works. I'm using ecuflash 1.40 and evoscan 2.0. The only reason I upgraded from ecuflash 1.30 to 1.40 was because I couldn't connect to ecuflash with the new cable. 1.40 connected fine.

Yes, hamish mentions this in post #11

yeah i would highly recommend those others reading this thread that just datalog and tune JDM evo7s, to remove pin9 from the cable. or pop pin9 out from the OBDII port. The cable design hasn't changed for 3 years, and tuners have tuned 1000s of evo7s I'm sure.

ok.....got the car flashed. Since the car had been sitting for over a week the battery was at just over 10v. Put a jump pack on it. Still not able to flash. Did some more research and decided to try the ecu unlocker. Then she let me flash. Some how the ecu got locked. So the car is now running.

Evoscan....sorry for the delay on the pictures. Work has been nuts. I am off tomorrow. I should be able to get it then.

Chalk up another fried ETACS unit on my buddy's Evo IX (apparently an SE) due to a recently purchased EvoScan 1.3R cable. Must say that I'm a bit annoyed. The EvoScan website makes no sense at all about what pin option to use. In the end, he got the option that said "Subaru/Mitsi reflashing". Even more frustrating because my Tactrix 1.3 cable works fine with his Evo.

^^^^^ I ordered my 1.3U cable through tunertools.com and it came with instructions to remove Pin 9 if I was going to be using it on an Evo 9. Also, my tuner has used his 1.3U cable on my car(IX MR) a couple different times already BEFORE this ETACS frying business came up without any issues, so who knows for sure. To me it sounds like Mitsu used multiple suppliers for the ETACS unit and/or did something different with the IX SE's.

there maybe something different about some of the etacs units, but my tactrix 1.3 cable worked fine while the 1.3r cable fried etacs.

sorry to hear that mrfred, are you able to send me the fried etacs ecu? I would like to take a look at one of them, and do some further investigation.

Tactrix 1.3 cable is not compatible with many mitsubishi's thats why your 1.3 cable worked fine, it is missing a pin1. it has to have pin1 for diagnostics mode and pin9 before the evo9SE etacs ecu will fry. pin1 is needed for ALL advanced mitsubishi diagnostics modes. pin9 is a piece of junk, and is only used for subaru reflashing.

I wonder how I can make it clearer. This is how its been since I put the option on the website...
