add or remove timing globally vs iat

Does everyone just zero this out? Is anyone taking advantage of this table? Currently im zeroed. Considering i did make good gains in the fall can i use this table to remove some timing when i bust my car out back into increasingly warmer weather? Id like to have accomplished a tune that is dully compensating.

Here's my table:

Code:
-26 19 48 73 100 133 185 239
  0 0 0 0 -1 -1 -2 -3

This can be handy for MBC setups that generally over post a little in very cold weather as well as high IAT's in the peak of summer. How I set up the table depends on the IAT's when I tune the vehicle but it's generally the same as the one listed above except I would do -3@-26*F and -1@19*F.

Good thinkin lincoln. I wasnt sure if i would be able to get away with more timing at same boost level in low temp vs leaving mbc unadjusted and pulling timing. Is there a significant difference between the rationale in those thoughts?

This is how I set up my cars in FL... It was 76 here yesterday...

The basic principle is that the denser air will allow for more air volume to be ingested. This, combined with some MBC's boosting slightly higher in very cold weather can induce knock at times. In very hot climates, the air is less dense so you generally can expect slightly less air volume but the increased IAT's could present a problem for knock.

Ideally, you can just tune your car at one temperature and when the climate starts to change significantly, just adjust the global IAT table until no knock is present. Eventually, you can have a well defined table and no adjustments would need to be made year round.

what these numbers mean (-2;-1;0;0;-1;-3 etc.) when certain iat temp is reached, ignition is retarded by that number ?

Yes, ignition timing will be adjusted by that value when at the corresponding IAT temp.

2 things:

This table interpolates to the nearest whole value or no?

Can the temp values be scalled so that I can reach those temperatures accordingly without causing problems to other tables? Although Im sure there is more than enouh range currently. Being that I am SD, i have yet to log the coolest temperature, and the hottest temperature, especially since my IAT sensor stuck at 80* for a while before I knew it.. time to start from scratch!

It will globallly add or subtract timing as a whole number.

I am not certain if that temp table is shared.

EcuFlash 1.43+ highlights table names that have been modified in the current session, so if you're using that you can try changing the scaling and seeing if it modifies the scaling in any other table. The only problem with this is that not every single table in the ROM is defined, so even if you get no change in what you can see, it could affect an undefined table we don't know about. But at least it's a start.
