Yet another cant connect to ecuflash thread.

So my tuner is experiencing some unknown issues when he tries to connect to ECUFlash,

Car is a 2005 Evo 8 stock ecu of course.

What the problem is:

1st day trying to tune
Uses his laptop connects downloads tephra mod v7 loads the tephra and now cant connect. cleans computer out still cant connect.

2nd day:
Uses a friends computer connects first try uploads tephra mod locks out again.

3rd day
Uses yet another persons laptop connects does some tuning is scared to upload teprha mod lol. almost finishes up tuning and unexpectedly cant reflash and locks out.

4th day.
haven't tried anything yet we have another laptop to try so were are waiting.

So basically where do we start. why cant we read our ROM?

Make sure that before trying to flash or read the ecu you let the car idle for a minute or so to get the battery voltage up.

Bingo. If all else fails, hook it up to a running car via jumper cables and see if it will flash then. Worked for my friend's car.

Anyone else nearby with another cable you can try? This sounds like a cable issue especially if the same issue is happening on different computers.

So I think it is a voltage issue. My alternator or battery might be weak. If we drive it and leave it running and set everything up before we shut the car off. Right when we turn the key off we dance it back on and hit the flash button and it works. So voltage is the issue. It is weird because we have used a battery charger while trying to flash and we got the same error. But issue seems to resolved. Still need to get the tephra added to ecu.

Get a new battery first. I think ecuflash ancients once stated that a weak battery while flashing can be rough on ECU
