How to log EGTs in EvoScan?

Hey EvoM,

I searched a bit but couldn't find a thread on how to log EGT's in EvoScan. Is there a way to wire this in your ECU? I have a bung and a sensor, but wanted to hardwire it for logging purposes. I didn't buy a gauge on purpose, as I wanted to make sure I get one that's compatible for logging.

Any ideas?

Anyone know?

If we're working with some common sense, could I purchase the AEM EGT Gauge that has a 0-5 volt output signal, and run that into port 75 with my Wideband?

I'm running the Zeitronix ZT2 which has EGT and can be logged via Evoscan.

evoscan seems to support this ADC converting hardware, seems cheap and readily available, perhaps you can try it on?

This thing is part of the solution for logging in EvoScan, but more is needed. The other items needed are:

1) Type K thermocouple
2) 1/8" NPT bung and a Swagelok fitting
3) thermocouple mV signal to analog converter

1) and 2) are easily available at Omega and Swagelok. VEMS used to make an inexpensive TC to analog converter, but in looking on their site, I no longer see one. I'll have to see what else is out there.

ok, I found all the info:

1) Buy the DLP-IO8 converter for EvoScan.

2) VEMS thermocouple (TC) amplifier: About $30. Select the option "with wire":

http://shop.vems.hu/catalog/amplifier-dsub9-p-129.html

3) EGT probe assembly. There are a couple of ways to do this.

A) The no-brainer but more slightly expensive way is to buy the EGT probe assembly sold by VEMS. Just select the "with sensor" option on the TC amplifier page. Cost is about $80+shipping.

B) Buy all the pieces individually. Total price with shipping for all the needed items is about $57+shipping. Items needed include:
i) 1/8" NPT stainless steel bung. About $8+shipping at Summit Racing.
ii) Thermcouple - I'd get the Omega KMTXL-062G-48 thermcouple. About $36+shipping. This is a fast probe, but its not going to have a super long lifetime, so I wouldn't use it for continuous service on a daily driven vehicle. For continuous service on a daily driver, I'd go with the 1/8" diameter probe (and a corresponding Swagelok fitting). And even then, I would check it every two months. http://www.omega.com/
iii) Swagelok 1/8" NPT to 1/16" Swagelok fitting. PN: SS-100-1-2BT. About $13. No shipping cost if bought from a local Swagelok distributor.

What would you need for the AEM that has the outputs already?

There are ZT2 options in Evoscan which you can see in the pic. The standard EFI will have these by default. The pic shows EFI CeddyMod Evo5/6, and I had to add the xml to that file so I could log them. As I said thou, the standard EFI which would be used for an Evo 7-9 has them standard.
