New EVODROID7 EvoScan Android GPS/Logger/Reflashing CarPC Touchscreen Review
I took it apart and tidied it up a bit, it now sits allot better and you can't see the edges of the tablet. I'm in the process of also making a phone docking station in the car as well.
In theory if either this evodriod7 or the tablet being realeased at a later date is close to the same size it should be easy to fit instead of a nexus 7. It would be a lot better for me personally if the software was realeased and I could put it on the nexus 7.

When done, I can post up pics.
ATM I'm using a parrot hands free unit and getting power from the usb slot, but with me wanting to do a built in phone dock in the sun visor I'm going to make up a little unit that has two 12v sockets with 2.1A chargers attached coming from the battery.
Are you using the pogo pins at the bottom?
All I'm saying is that with this sort of thing, the frustration level is going to be very high on both ends. The buyer wants their product, and is worried it's a scam when they can't get info...and the developer gets frustrated with all the constant demands for info, so stops responding.
I never get in on stuff like this, because I'm honest enough to admit I'm impatient and want stuff right away. To heck with paying up front and waiting 6-12 months. That's poor planning on the developer's end IMO.

There will always be people who need an injection of funds to bring a niche product like this to market. I am happy to fund that but I know other may not feel the same. The reward to those that pre-order and wait 6 months (wow has it been that long?) is that we get it slightly cheaper and we get it first.
I think the slipping timeframes are what is frustrating people. It only bothers me as I need it to log AFR and boost as well as the usual parameters. I have all the sensors fitted but I chose to wait for the Evodroid rather than messing around with other solutions.... Anyway, I digress.
Hamish, a realistic update would really be appreciated...
UPDATE: the logger is working perfectly.. and the cables assembled. just a few issues with the wideband logger skipping a beat, will fix that up this weekend.. Depending on family duties this weekend, it might even be finished.
Glad to hear progress is being made, however I definately want to know more about the indash unit before my unit presale unit ships. If the indash unit will be different, or not compatible with the first batch units, id like to change up to the indash unit.
I'm just intrested, if your using the USB stick to get radio, how will you power the nexus? Does it have its own power source that pass through to the tablet?

But either way, the power and audio will always stay connected to the dock only, not to the tablet itself, so the tablet can always be taken out of the car pretty easily (just pop off faceplate). Also, there is a teardown video on youtube for the dock. It's super simple inside, so if you wanted, depending on how you want to mount, you can use just separate the pogo pin to audio/usb input separately and mount wherever you want.
I'm just using the mount as a base since it already fits the Nexus 7 perfectly.

Yep, I'm using the recently released Asus dock that uses the pogo pins at the bottom. I was just hacking up the dock with a pair of snips yesterday to fit it nicely into the back of the double din faceplate. I'm not sure if I am going to attach the dock to the faceplate or to the inside of the opening and put faceplate over. Will do it this weekend hopefully.

I.e attaching the USB stick you spoke of.
Mines easy enough to remove, quick unclip of the surrounding, nexus pulls out from snap on case and un plug usb cable.
I'm using a profile setting app to automate everything as not competent on Tasker.
First though I'm going to concentrate on the phone dock.
indash sounds and looks cool, but once you have one, it actually sucks. You have to remember that I have both in my car, an indash and an EvoDroid7 I guarantee you when you are driving 200km/h you ain't looking at the center console screen.. you are looking at your AFR, Boost, Water Temp, Oil pressures on the EvoDroid7 on the side pillar windscreen! one eye on the EvoDroid7, and one eye on the road! at all times.
Test it out.. put your laptop on your passenger seat, and EvoDroid7 on your pillar windscreen, and tell me which one you look at 99% of the time

Maybe you could develop a HUD version like on the F16...
I already did, the EvoScan GPSNav all sold out last year, it had a HUD mode, there are youtube videos around of it at night time, it looks awesome, maybe you can find one second hand
Now I'm making a new EvoDroid7.. I will add an HUD option to EvoDroid7... it basically flips and reverses the screen so that you can lye the EvoDroid7 on its back on the dash and then shine it towards a piece of film that you put on the windscreen close to the pillar side.
