That little plug is for reflashing. This new cable and whole Evodroid doesn't support flashing yet so it plugs only to obd.

I'm trying to use the 2.5 PPC that was attached to a post here, but I get on every template an error: "Gauge Template File #filename# Version not found"

I noticed that the latest PPC on evoscan.com was 2.7, I wonder if that would work or is there a workaround for this issue? I'm dying to get the GTR style gauges up and running.

[edit] "Fuel consumption" if checked gives me a runtime error. Car is EDM 2006 w/ Tephra v7 88580714.

 

And, a very BIG issue is - How do we, the people who already paid and received the Evodroid7, get access to Evoscan for Android? I factory reset my Evodroid7 and now Evoscan is GONE. Without that...I have just a tablet and a cable that attaches to the car. But nothing in between. Please Hamish, fix the link you sent us in the package to allow us to download Evoscan for Android.

 

Is there some way to setup a on screen home soft key? For those of us that are double din mounting it makes access to that top port impossible without having to pull the face plate off each time

 

I`ll get up to 9 satellites and it still wont be able to locate me without wifi. My error message is "unfortunately, google TTS engine has stopped"

 

I was under the impression that you could both datalog and charge your phone at the same time with this... However this does not seem possible.

 

When you go to the link for the evoscan2.apk does it just tell you to enter your login/password then redirect you to evoscan 2.7.0090? Which then takes me to a page to pay 25$ for the software? I can't find anything to enter my serial key... am i supposed to pay 25$ ontop of the droid?

 

The link doesn't work for me on the PC but works on the evodroid7 oddly enough. Then it takes me to a login page but I haven't logged in to see what happens.

 

When I log in, it takes me to the gpsnav download section :/

I too currently have a tablet that needs an evoscan reinstall. Shot hamish a trouble ticket on the 8th, still have yet to receive a response. I am guessing he won't release the software to us until he releases the software for public sale which blows

 

You won't need another part to use EVODROID7 as a data logger, gauges etc.
I'm pretty sure the piggy back plug is only used for reading and flashing the ECU and EVODROID7 doesn't do that.
To flash etc you will still need to use the old cables with Ecuflash or Evoscan.

Hamish, sorry to keep nagging about this but a lot of us need the following:

The pin out for the cable so that we can

1 have the tablet turn on / off with the ignition
2 connect 0-5v sensors to the cable

The instructions for the above.

Access to the software for reinstallation purposes.

These are not feature requests etc. they are things that we are supposed to have access to as standard.

I would appreciate a reply.

The latest version of the Gaugedesigner is 2.5. There was a later 2.7 version of the PPC software but that is the evoscan software for the old EVOSCAN GPS NAV.

The file not found problem is usually when the gaugedesigner software isn't in the same folder as the Gaugetemplates folder. But on one computer I get an error that the access to the background picture is denied and on another computer it works perfectly???
You could also open the template txt file and see what background pic it is trying to open and make sure it is in the Gaugetemplates folder.

It's is a pretty basic bit of software, you can't start a gauge from scratch. You have to open an existing one then modify it and you can't scroll down the gauge. If you are trying to work on a 480 x 800 gauge on a laptop it only shows 3/4 of the gauge so you have to use something with a decent sized screen.
Evoscan 2.9 has a lot more tools for creating gauges, so it's worth the $25 for that if you dont already have it and you can start a gauge from scratch.

It is possible to create a gauge without Gaugedesigner by creating a txt file, pretty fiddly though. The attached file has the text formats needed for most of the gauges, the background sizes are different, 800x480 or 480x800 for the Evodroid.

 

What is the actual intention of the usb bluetooth dongle? Is it so you can wirelessly log onto a laptop? What then would be the point of the evodroid?

It sounds like they are for evodroid owners only and provide access to the android evoscan software. Except...they don't work.

I emailed Hamish about this and he replied yesterday saying he would update the links and whatnot by...yesterday. They still don't work and I never got another reply back regarding whether or not he did what he promised.

What the heck is going on with him? I would never have gotten into this situation if I didn't see that he already had a long standing reputation with the evo community. But, he is hardly living up to his reputation in my eyes now.
