Can you include in your update a template and the means for it to record to 10krpm?

any update on flashing roms or clearing codes Hamish? I would love to be able to use my HU to do this. Then I can stop carrying multiple devices. I have to flash my ECU to switch back and forth between E85/93 since my Ecu doesn't like map switching.

For the record my wish list in order of priority is:
  1. Faster Logging - 5Hz would be nice - 20hz like my laptop with Evoscan & RAX Patch would be great.
  2. Switchable displays
  3. Audible Alarms
  4. DTC Display & clear
  5. A patch that allows it to work on a Nexus 7. OK, given the plethora of android tablets out there and everyone wanting evodroid for their particular model I can see this turning into a support nightmare.
  6. A fix for that annoying delay between words that the iGO navigator has
  7. A high resolution (0.1 kph) low lag speedometer

I personally can do without flashing capability. I am happy to return to the laptop for that.

Newbies might like:
  1. XMLs that work with the stock display(s) out of box,
  2. More instructional videos

There; that's not too much to ask is it?

Looking back to when you first started this; Oct 2012 is the first post on this thread, would you start the Evodroid program again?

They have been a while coming but 7 & 8" Windows 8.1 tablets are starting to hit the market - Dell Venue 8 Pro, Acer Iconia W3, Panasonic Toughpad FZ-M1 etc. Makes me wonder if I shouldn't wait a bit for this market to mature and go back evoscan on a windows tablet. A touch version of evoscan for Windows 8 would be even nicer .

Decisions decisions

The day they take usb inputs on tablets and have a screen similar in size to the current one is when i'll make the change. This thing is just too laggy.

1. I'll try and get this faster towards 5hz, as soon as my clutch is fixed on my Evo, I can do some more in-car testing. I seem to go through clutches, maybe just my driving style, my wife thinks its normal to go through a clutch every year lol

2. worked on this already, I am testing this today.

3. I'll start building out some more features like the old gpsnav. Alarms is top of the list.. I have a new surprise for this too. but I'll save it for later.

4. DTC is quite hard, because what works on evo4/5/6, doesn't work on evo7/8/9, that doesn't work on EvoX. thats like 3 DTC systems. I'll start with Evo7/8/9 DTC.

5. what is the screen resolution in pixels for NExus 7? this could be a lot of work rebuilding photoshop background images, as the images and fonts may not scale correctly, or would slow the screen down having to re-scale for NExus 7.

6. delay between words? what does that mean, where is that?

7. speedometer with better resolution, hmm, this could be possible if you split the speedo wire from the ecu over to one of the inputs on the openport 1.3DA cable.. although the virtual dyno prefers a lower resolution speedometer to get a better average of performance over time. are you wanting higher resolution for your screen and eyes? for top speed to 1 decimal place? for virtualdyno? or for tuning speed density?

8. wow oct 2012, would I start Evodroid program again, YES because Android is cool. and would I have two new babies again YES, but spare time wise 2013 has definitely been a bit crazy. Even racing the Evo at the racetrack has indefinitely taken a backseat for the time being.

9. I have a brand new model of Android being fully tested next week for EvoDroid7, I just have a few of the current EvoDroid7 units left, and they will be sold by the end of March, and the new ones will be in. The new one was selected out of an array of over 800 android tablets, and has dual core, gps, wifi and 3G built-in. The Windows8.1 o/s tablets could be coming in droves by 2015 in 7inch and 10inch format. we will see. I could make EvoScan for windows more touch friendly

I can't imagine what the surprise might be. I guess it will be a SURPRISE! then.
Top of my list would be a knocksum alarm. Maybe even a rising crescendo as knocksum rises. TephraXMODS can flash the engine warning light but: 1) an audible alarm would draw your attention immediately where a flashing light might go unnoticed in the heat of the moment, and 2) Tephra doesn't seem to have any love for Ralliarts so there are no Ralliart TephraXMOD versions anyway. Could it be that we are unwanted impostors in the Evo world

A Vote here for EvoX/Ralliart.

Evoscan on the Nexus 7 V1 runs at 1280 x 736 V2 runs something higher. I am quite happy to do my own gauges - you probably have better things to spend your time on that developing gauges for every possible resolution including some that maybe no-one will ever use.

My problem on the Nexus 7 is that it won't communicate over the USB. It starts up and I get a "Re-plug in the Open Port Cable" message in the top right of the screen. limaynard got it working on a Galaxy Tab with his own gauges so there is some portability, just not to my device.

I submitted a ticket on this - 6T5ATHL3R8. The iGO navigator voice has a 1 to 2 second gap between spoken words. The message "in 500 meters turn left" comes out something like "In . . . (1 second delay) . . . . five hundred ... (2 seconds silence) ... meters .... (1.5 second delay) .... turn . . . (1 second silence) . . . . left"
Most annoying. I would use iGO but for this.

In this speed limit obsessed big brown land that I happen to live in, we trundle around heavily policed highways at 100 kph. If we have a piece of highway that the Germans would delimit we are sometimes allowed to travel at 110 kph. I don't fight it any more. In New South Wales I use the GPS to set the cruise control to 3 kph above the limit which keeps me just inside the speed tolerance. (Try this in Victoria and you can loose your licence before lunch). Having set the speed I then try not to enter the state of torpor that the majority of motorists on these roads seem to enter. It also allows me to clear the nose to tail convoys that form when there gets to be a bit a traffic. It would be nice if I didn't have to leave EvoScan to get an accurate fix on speed.

Looking at my RAXpatch logs speed only seems to get updated every 0.75 seconds or so and that update seems to lag the real speed calculated from 2byte rpm by another 0.2 seconds or so. On top of that it is rounded to 2kph. For virtual dyno wouldn't you be better off applying some mathematical smoothing to some more accurate figures - I'm thinking 2byteRPM on 3rd or 4th gear pulls.

Then again I might be the only person interested in this and it is a fair way down my list.

OK, you've convinced me to stay with Android for the moment and see what V2 brings.

Any updates on plans for separately selling the software and cable from the tablet?

"My problem on the Nexus 7 is that it won't communicate over the USB. "

are you sure? I thought Nexus 7 was good... did you tick the "USB debugging" ON in the android settings? it needs this for the usb port to be active, did you know this? look under settings->developer options. Also whilst you are there set the "stay awake" ON (screen will never sleep while charging)

Yep. Turning USB debugging on was the first thing that I tried.

Any clues as to the circumstances under which a Nexus 7 did work? I was thinking that Android 4.4 might be the problem.

Under some circumstances, (as I recall it was when evoscan was not running) upon hooking up to the 3.0DA, I would get a message to the effect that the Nexus had detected something plugged in but that it was not equipped to deal with it, plus a link to IOIO software . The link took me deep into a linux/android development site with nothing of any immediately obvious use to me.

Is the 3.0DA related to IOIO or Eclipse in any way?

I'm thinking of buying the Asus (Or Acer can't remember) windows 8 tablet for the car. Its windows 8 and runs full blown windows 8 not just RT. Which means you can install x86 applications like evoscan and ecuflash. I don't duel map switch so that's why the flashing has been important.

Hello, I currently have your evoscan Android and am experiencing some problems.
I have a 2012 Ralliart Usdm.
I have a 3.0 gst basemap with rax fast logging tune.
I have everything connected properly, but when I try driving, the only thing that shows any difference is throttle and battery level. Both rpm and speed remain at 0 even if I'm accelerating. I tried switching in the menus to rax fast logging in the select ecu but no luck. Is something wrong, is there something to do? I'd assume it's my tune not being compatabile but I've logged and ran evoscan plenty of times before on this tune and it worked fine . can someone please help me out. Thanks.

Update. I tried switching to a Ralliart ecu, and now it's throwing constant errors across the screen regardlessof ecu. I'll upload a picture tonight.

If you do make the move, let us know how it turned out.

suggestion for the updates Hamish...

With the knock recall function for highest reading, could we have a reset button somewhere, i register knock over bumps, so would like if you could clear them bit easier than having to exit the app and load it up again.

I'll check it, but I think I programmed that you hit the value on the screen and it resets, just like the gpsnav.
