need help with tuning

would like some help with my maps. i ahve an evo 9.
im running an fp red with 84mm cover. Cossworth M2, Ferrea dual springs and retainers. licp, HFC, Greddy TIC, injen intake hard pipe, RC 1000 inj. ported exh housing, ported exh mani. 3' DP, JMF o2 housing. i may be forgetting but the basic supporting mods.
i keep getting a little knock here and there. i also cant seem to get over 400whp on 93 at 25-27 psi. car feels ok but feels like its holding back. making 370-380 or so but feels like its not stretching its legs and moving. some input would be greatly appreciated. i have never tuned before and this is my first attempt at this

Your first log looks good, could probably use a degree or two up top 6k and up. Your second log looks like your knocking from too little timing. Over all everything looks pretty good.

Are you using a gauge to dial in your boost? If so I'd say it is off. Get a map sensor asap.

Also, did you boost leak test prior to tuning? I would imagine on a red @ 25psi your load would be a little higher than that.

ReaperX, if he had a boost leak his load would read higher. Since the turbo would be working harder to achieve the same PSI vs having no boost leaks, where the turbo operates more efficiently/ easier. If that makes sense. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Also OP your tune looks well, pretty conservative. From looking at load, it looks like your hitting full boost around 4100 rpm. But thats hard to tell without a MAP senser, like ReaperX mentioned. That is great for a FP red, most people can only get their FP reds' to hit full boost around ~4200- 4300 rpm. At least from what I've seen.. Good job man.

so they all seem to be about 250rpm apart from each other or so.
all above based on 2.0L

Thanks. I made a few tweaks. The car really responded to richer spool up afr. And a tweak of mivec. 24psi I'm at 390/350 on VD. Where I was at 360/320 at 27psi on those maps. I was able to add timing as well after I tuned the knock filters to quit going crazy. I added 110 vp with that previous map and was still getting knock everywhere. I didn't upload those logs. Still needs a little tweaking but it's getting there. This turbo rocks!!!!

Is your engine stock? Sure it's not rubbing anything anywhere?

What kind of timing should I be at 7k-7.5k on 93?

First I've never tuned anything over my hta 71 but your timing after peak load seems to ramp kinda slow

Your rom is corrupt or something too might be the XML but your fuel map is eating another table

From looking at the first log, it looks like your advancing the timing up to 10* throughout the 7-7,500 rpm range. Since you have no knock currently, see if you can get away with 10*-12*, starting 10 * @ 7,000 rpm ending with 12* @ 7,500 rpm. If you see positive gains (ie no knock, hp/tq increase etc...), see how much more timing you can get away with. You definitely have more potential, just gotta tweak it

If the engine is stock I see no need to have to bump the knock cal's really....unless something is rubbing somewhere

I added vp 110 and was still seeing knock everywhere. 5500 to redline seemed to always pick up knock. On 93 and on 110 with the timing I have posted. 10* at 7k on 93 or mix 93 and 110. Also at 6-7-8* timing after peak tq. Lowering the timing had done nothing. I had it running all 4* out to red line and still knocking. I have a lwfw and clutch as well. Idk
I don't like touching the sensors but if I'm picking up large amounts of whp how would it be real knock?

Yea Kevin, be careful on how much you increase your knock threshold tables.. With your mods, you should only increase the knock thresholds/loads minimally. You could be experiencing real knock. You can check by monitoring your knock voltage and comparing it to your real knock count/ sums

I have been and nothing shows any kind of pattern. I've lowered the timing. Lowered boost to WG pressure and I still get knock 5500 and up. I've pulled so much that I'm down to 300whp and still knock. Raise timing. Get to 400whp and still knock. More knock then when at 300hp but how can te car be making so much more power and respond to timing and boost and still knock? I've got the filter above 5500 at 26 now and still 3-5 counts knock.
It's not spiking thru the threshold and voltage may be 1.4-1.8 where it knocks but down lower I've seen voltage at 2+ and no knock. Even after knocking and it clears up ill see higher voltage spikes then when it knocked. Sooo frustrating. Been 2 weeks of hours a day messing with this.
Idk what to do
