you've got it, but I'd add first : warm up the engine before starting the test and do a test on each cylinder without the oil first to establish the baseline (just in case something changed since the last test)

but yeah, you've got it brother!

is there any body out there that has done a compression test on an evo 9 recently, if so i would really like to know what you came out with im hearing from 2 reliable resources 2 differnt things, that 125 compression is bad for a motor and another saying that the mivec motor has a compression like that any ways. so if there is anybody out there that has more info that would be great

Just an add-on, make sure that while you are cranking for the compression test that you have the gas pedal to the metal WOT.

Let me tell you something about my own motor... (These numbers are off the top of my head but close enough to show you what happened).

110-95-110-105 dry

135-115-135-140 with oil

Now you can see why I'm doing a complete re-build.

Honestly, take your numbers... add the oil and take your numbers again. If it bumps up, you know rings. If it stays, its most likely a head/valve issue. At that point, it would be a good idea to do a leak down test.

seriously? wouldnt that flood the motor? the first compression test i did i did not touch the gas pedel at all. was i supposed to? and would that have made a difference for why i had low compression? or like i stated above does the evo 9 mivec motor have a low compression anyways?

You're supposed to hold the TB plate open. No it does not "flood the motor".

Al tuned my built motor, T67 evo to 400whp. He said it wouldnt make more power. I went to another local tuned, it made 488 on pump. And i trapped 6 MPH higher then Als tune.

According to the service manual, you need to disconnect the crank shaft position sensor so ignition and fuel injection wont happen and then floor it while cranking the engine. Your compression should be 145 PSI with a max limit of +/- 14 PSI.
