We will have to meet up one night me you Tobz with our cars and do some rather spirited driving.

40psi from a 40R at low 4000rpms... lets get that torque to carry to redline! im excited it will decimate most anything else at that elevation

You should ask Evodan, he went from a FullRace TS 4088 to a TS HTA3586, if I recall correctly.

bolio - that is not correct, evodan had twinscroll 30R, then twinscroll 35R 1.06 a/r, and now twinscroll HTA3586R 1.06 a/r

Do you still recommend the 40r over the HTA86 with one of your TS kits?

the hta86 turbos are impressive, particularly in a t3 singlescroll format. I can see why so many people like them. The only downside is they are still using the 35R turbine wheel, the narrow GT25R bearing housing center section, and thus are limited for twinscroll turbine housing choices.

for a twinscroll kit, I believe the 40R has the upper hand

Sorry to the OP for hi-jacking the thread, but since you are a fan of the BW turbos, I recall you were getting one made to your specs that I think was between the HTA86, 37r and 40r in size. What are the specs of your dream BW turbo that's capable of 9's full weight and can outspool the HTA86? We saw what the mile car could do with the massive s400 74mm BW, very impressive.

this is what we were working on:

this compares the S300P 0.80 a/r to the S300SX w/ 88mm compressor 1.00 a/r

orange: 0.80 a/r S300P, custom machined housing - 17.5psi tapering to 16psi
green: 0.80 a/r S300P, custom machined housing - 20.5psi tapering to 17.5psi

VS

pink:S300SX 88-75 1.00 a/r 19psi
blue: S300SX 88-75 1.00 a/r 19psi (same as above) with slight cam gear adjustment (advanced to +3 intake from +2, and added a little fuel during spoolup)

you can see the considerable gains in the midrange that i was after

OK, thanks for the detailed info. I must be getting old or colorblind because I can barely tell apart the colors, but I get it. So to answer my own question, you would probably recommend the T4 S300SX 88-75 over the competition, including the HTA 1.06 AR turbos and 4088r? And wouldn't you recommend a larger AR than 1.00 for the 88-75 for a top end car? I was browsing the BW thread on NASIOC and that full weight WRX in Russia is the kind of evidence I was looking for, big turbo, but still very impressive and durable.
