Of course man, I am going have to bring it down next year to drive YOU around

how much would a short block like this cost? This might be an option for me later on.

I'm seeing peak torque after 5k.. presumably the dyno pulls are in 3rd gear?

Does that mean you make 23 psi after 5k rpm? That sounds a bit laggier than I'd have expected. I remember hearing someone say higher comp hurts spool, but to me I can't see a reason why it would.

What made you stop at 23 psi? Just needed more time tuning?

Aren't you running a longer stroke than standard? And if so, doesn't that compromise the max revs slightly over the stock 88mm stroke?

Sorry for all the curious questions. Overall the setup looks wicked so good luck with it.

That is correct, dyno pulls are in third gear. The reason compression can hurt spool is the increased efficiency of combustion means there is less energy in the exhaust (as I recall Ted's explanation).

Stopped at 23psi that night for dinner...it was half past 8 and I hadnt eaten since breakie so I called it a day and took the crew to supper and a pub

Its a 94mm with the 162mm rod stuffed in so the RS is slightly better than stock and we expect we can rev it exactly like a 2.0l just havent had enough time with the new combo and only 100 miles on the motor I was taking it easy. However tonight I decided to get a little wilder:

I will have all the overlays with boost plots from 23psi to 30 (that was spike only as you'll notice) shortly...and the log as well.

For some reason the version of WinPep I have on my personal lappy is not working correctly and wants to chop part of the graph out. So for the time being its gonna have to be in speed with no torque. It does have Boost Vs Power though. All runs spiked about 2.5-3psi higher than it was at near peak power. On the old setup the boost was perfectly flat with no addl spike. The exception are the 563 and 568 runs which dropped back to 23psi just like the 570 run monday. I moved the 2.2 files to a new folder so thats why the numbers dont match up.

WOW-

for a 10% capacity changed, you picked up 15% more power @ 23psi!

I like the large bore

Aby,

The 2.2 (as Marco pointed long ago) is a really a rev happy BIG 2.0 and not quite as asthmatic as 2.3s tend to be on a given turbo. I think the compression change and the displacement really went a long way to make great power. This combination (MIVEC is not currently as it was) when fully dialed would make a killer track car since it gets into power so fast and holds it so long and at relatively low boost. I normally run the full 28.8* of advance to encourage spool, but the tall deck and some stuff I am trying right now really hasnt seen over 23* of advance. I think I can encourage at least another 400rpm (its about where it was before right now) out of it which will really make this thing fun.
