Ok - Back with a more... in depth review. 300ish miles and just about out of gas. Wow.

I think the thing that MOST impresses me is that this car is so docile if you just want to cruise around. Leaving Wakeman I was easy on it as their are cops everywhere... even ones willing to pull over one evo pulling another with a 20 foot yellow tether 20 feet from the shop - So I wasn't about to press my luck. The lower RPM power is startling to say the least. But given the dyno sheet on the passenger seat when I picked the car up.. 440 ft/tq at 3800rpms.. that speaks for itself. Stop light to stop light.. cruising at 35mph.. its your every day car.

Then there is the slight more open road version... Normally I was used to power in the 5500+ range... So when I was making the left on to the first major highway from Buschurs and I came around the turn in 2nd at 4K and I mashed it.. and instantly found my self wondering why I was steering out the passenger side window... I quickly realized this power band was very different from any other turbo car I had owned or driven. Simply put - the on demand power from 4K+ is explosive - There is no such thing as lag. It needs to be summer - and the track needs to be open.

Overall - This is the most ENJOYABLE car I have driven to date. It is the perfect blend of both on track performance and your calm daily driver. You dont need crazy revs for power and theirs plenty of it throughout the entire power band. It is going to take some getting used to.. as its like a stock turbo set to full kill... To much throttle and johnny law will be findin ya doin well over the posted speeds haha Our local track opens I belive April 1st? or there abouts... SO I will have results that night.. of just how bad a driver I am!

Thanks for posting the review of the car! Glad to hear you like it, the dyno numbers from our dyno are deceiving. A lot of guys have called, got their numbers, were disapointed and then when they drove the car, impressed beyond belief. It's a good thing

Enjoy it!

I am building another 2.4 for anyone interested. Using the stock 2.4 Mitsubishi crank in the next one to keep the cost down. I'll post details and pricing when I have it finished.

Most of us have been impressed in all ways. Atleast the ones who know your dyno!

And Rogue, I know what you mean about the first time driving it. Ill never forget when we took my car out when I picked it up the first time

This is one of the best car owner reviews I've read in a long time. I can feel your excitement and I see that these 2.4L builds are starting to really catch some traction in the EVO community (no pun intended). I look forward to my 2.4L build but I'm sticking with the stock VIII turbo on E85. Should be pretty exciting when this summer comes.

Quote: do u think my VIII and X can do 30psi pump gas?....
Surprisingly high, static compression ratios plus relatively high boost levels, on pump gas, are possible with the Buschur Racing cylinder heads due to Dave`s recontoured, knock-resistant, combustion chamber design.

Quote: Never thought of that one! I may do that come summer. We will see if the red on e85 is enough for me or not.

According to e85fuels.com there is a pump 4.6 miles from my house. Unfortunatly - that is "the way the crow flies" and it happens to be on the turnpike. Blah.

But would you run e85, or meth+93?
I'm running meth and 93 and make pretty good power. I'm also building a 4G64 after regrettably getting rid of my old 2.3L thinking I wanted to go to stock and sell it. I'd highly recommend meth. I'm in the same boat as you with E85. It would be great to use but I burn a tank of gas a week and the closest to me is 20 miles away. The methanol has allowed me to run 30 PSI daily with 0 knock and a fairly aggressive street tune. And unlike E85, you only use it when you boost. I go through a gallon every 2 months or so, flooring it quite frequently with a large jet (something around a 200CC if memory serves me correctly). It's not a hassle to order. I pay $40 for 4 gallons of premixed boost juice. With the right failsafes like a kill switch, check valve, level LED and activation LED, it's been great for the last 3 years or so that I've run it on my Evo. I had a kit on my old eclipse for a few years before that too. Meth is an awesome addition if you can't readily get E85.

how do u think the the stock 64 crank will hold up compared to the billet item???? i have a built 64/63 with a stock crank and to be honest im scared to push over 400hp on a dynodynamics dyno
