E85 Army wakes up a 2003 Evo 8

This 2003 Evo 8 came in for a retune on 91 oct for some small additional mods and to enlist into the E85 Army.

2003 Evo 8 w/ 8X,000 miles

Stock Evo 8 turbo w/ 10.5 hotside
Stock Evo 8 WGA
Titek V1 02 housing
Helix 3 " DP
RRE Rally cat (resonated test pipe)
Greddy Ti Catback
Evo 9 metal BOV
Cone air filter in hacked OEM box (stealth mod)
GSC S1 cams
Stock cam gears
Supertech dual springs and retainers
JAM lifters
ARP headstuds
RC 1200cc injectors
Walbro FP
AMS V1 LICP
Perrin FMIC
Stock Evo 8 UICP
Ported OEM exh manifold
GM 3port boost solenoid
SpoolinUp COP ignition system
Milspec 65mm TB
GST custom dyno tune using Tephra Mods / map switching. (ecuflash)

I had tuned this Evo awhile back and it made 275 whp / 251 wtq on 91 oct, with the stock FMIC and stock cat.

Retuned it this time on 91 oct with the addition of the FMIC, Test Pipe, a COP and moving from a 2.75" DP to 3" and the car gained 40 whp / 36 wtq which was pretty amazing for the small changes.

Next up was the E85 tune and like always, huge gains!

+ 53 whp / + 69 wtq

Solid is E85 @ 28psi, dotted is 91 oct @ 24 psi:

For reference on our dyno:

Stock 03/04 evo = 190-210whp

Stock 05 evo = 210-215whp

Stock 06 evo = 220-230whp

Stock 08 evo = 215-230whp

Stock 09 Ralliart = 190-199whp

Nice work Bryan. I did end up confirming your MD reads a touch higher than mine. That occured running Ben's car. Even the untouched dyno's still read different.

Yes Ben told me. The difference can always be contributed to dyno setup, temp, different days, etc. One of the various reasons why all dynos can read different.

We had a local Dyno Dynamics that would read SPOT ON with our dyno on some cars on some days, and slightly off on other cars, different days.

I always try to include before/after with all the results I post.

I would like to put E85 in my car with a tune. What exactly do I need to upgrade to SAFELY run E85? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For Evo 8/9 all you need is a walbro FP and injectors.
