Mellon how do you pick what smoothing factor to use? I always wondered about that.
I add just enough to smooth the humps

yes, sometimes 10 isn't enough

Im going to add 15 levels of smoothing if you all think thats enough ... 20 would be just as easy to add ...

Is that why some dyno sheets looks very jumpy and others show a nice curve?

sometimes dyno operators leave the lumps in to get higher peak numbers and sometimes it's just a rough tune. Sometimes the tune can be perfect and it's still a little rough, could be poor ignition system or other factors.

So how can you tell the differnce between it just needing to be smoothed out and poor igniton or another problem?

I always look at the AFR first, if it's too rich it can cause the ignition to break up. If there's knock, it's going to look rough. Address the tuning issues first. If that checks out and the car feels smooth, then it's likely just needing more smoothing. If you feel the ignition breaking up or see odd lean spots in the log that can also be a misfire where oxygen wasn't burned.

Are you fighting fire with fire?

Just messing with you, Mellon. Oxygen, by definition, doesn't burn. Oxygen is what let's something else burn(rapidly oxidize), which in the case of misfire is the fuel.

heres my contribution for now at 31psi tappering to 28. im excited to get down to cbrd now. i did this just 2hrs ago with
15* uptop only. I think power dropped significantly uptop cause it wanted more timing.. it kept repeating 15* for like 5 lines.
no knock at all.

a few things:

1) cbrd's mustang dyno is going to read worlds lower than a "dynojet"

2) the dive at the end is where the log file needs to be clipped a little earlier most likely

i know. it reads like gst motorsports dyno and buschurs now. im hoping for 600 atleast on it. i know my timing needs cleaned up between 5-6k so it should make a world of difference once that areas dialed in.. the peak torque area i know i got perfect. if we have to spike the turbo to 42psi to hold 34-35 out the top then so be it. i can pick up 30-40whp just by removing maf from the loop and goin SD.. which i might do, havent decided yet. are you keeping maf or doin SD?

were doin 2 maps, both e85. one for road one for killmode.

I have a 10:1 CR motor on the way back from Buschur and I'll give the stock MAF one more try. Last time out it did 705 at 38psi and 715 at 45psi, clearly I'm hitting a wall there. I sent the head in for inspection too just in case there was some valve float causing that. When I raised the boost the tq shot up from 540 to 609tq so at mid range the boost helped tremendously.

If I hit the same wall, I'll try SD and if the power jumps way up, we'll know without a doubt the upper limit of the stock MAF
