Evo8 upgrading Evo9 turbo
#63
The 9 turbo is great for my applications. In fact, I don't need more power for the autocross venue I go to. But then I went to the quarter mile drags and felt power hungry, thinking of easier ways to hit 11s. I chose the BBK Full because a lot of people are reporting stock-like spool and power down low (which is great for autox) and a higher efficiency range. Some are running 30+ psi and the boost only falls to about 26psi at redline. So basically, I keep my power down low, but have much much greater potential for high hp.
I still have the 9 turbo installed on the car. I currently run 24psi, but I'll probably push it to 26psi in the next couple weeks just to see how it responds.

you probably wont see enough increase to make it actually worthwhile unless you plan on sending it in to get it upgraded in the future. You can clear 400 whp and 11's on a 10.5 hotside 8 turbo easy.

I swapped my evo8 turbo for evo9 turbo and have great numbers. I made 347whp on pump gas on 26 psi mods: injen intake, injen upper and lower pipes and intercooler, GSC S2 cams, hks exhaust. also stock injectors. upgrading those to 1000cc soon.

about 20-40whp over what you are making now on. this depends on fuel, boost, timing. I make around 340whp pump DJ with my stock 8 turbo, i would expect 365ish whp on same dyno with the turbo being the only change.
