Good to hear Dave, sounds like fun. I want to play with some other tuning programs besides ECUflash.

Question

David this is a little off topic and I may have missed this somewhere when going through all the pages, but why is it that you say you probably will never use a 2.4?

I am personally a big fan of the 2.4 especially with the FP black turbo as it spools it just like a stock turbo on the stock 2.0 but has huge power and torque potential.

Anyway I just wanted to hear your thoughts on the 2.4

I have seen better results from the 2.3 than the 2.4. No extra head work needed for the 2.3, no special head gasket, no special water pump, no head gasket sealing worries. I suggest the 2.4 for a guy who wants what a 2.3 does but they don't have a good 4g63 core.

BTW, NOT at all optimal but an FP Black with this 2.3RPM engine in 3rd gear makes 20 psi at 3900 rpm, I'd guess with some additional tuning and a stock intake manifold the same car I am referring to would make 20 psi at 3700'ish. That's some serious low end.

Thanks for the reply, does the 2.1 have the same issues you listed above like the 2.4 since its the same block? Come to think of it I have never heard of needing a special HG for the 2.1 or the water pump adapter or any of it.

One more completely off topic question based on my 2.0 build that I am doing right now.
Does a higher compression ratio help to increase spool up at all? I am putting Wiseco HD 10.5:1 pistons in my 2.0 that im building soon.

Would the 'normal' 2.3 be capable of this, or is there a little something special that makes this one even better on the low end?

How about posting these questions in the engine thread or ask thenguys you bought your pistons from about their product.

lanevo, yes our normal 2.3 would have the same spool up as this engine or very-very close at least.
