With my downpipe dumping into the open and being able to hear the turbine spinning, I like to describe the sound like a tornado The whistle is almost emergency siren like. At low rpms, it's quite ominous.

I went out and did a pull after dialing the boost back to 24psi. It held 21psi at redline with a simple MBC (versus 19 on the evo9 turbo). Without tuning, it made 351/315 I did pick up more lag (few hundred rpms) and it was noticeable.

So with no tuning: +20hp/-7tq

Let's see what I can do with some tuning.

On that first pull above, I lost .4 seconds on the 2500-4000rpm area compared to the evo9 turbo.

I just added 1 degree of timing to my new tune at the 2500-4000rpm segment and it gained .15 seconds back ...no knock so far, this turbo loves timing in the midrange. More to go!

I'd get rid of the Mobil1 and swap this stuff in ASAP. You're not supposed to use standard Mobil1 from what I understand with the CBRD turbo's. They recommend the Premium below, but the Z-Rod just came out so it's brand spankin new!

This is a work-in-progress. There still more I can do out of this. Tonight's tuning session ended abruptly with a cop hiding at the end of my tuning road . I started with roughly 3-400rpms lag using my old map. I'm chipping it away and it's looking awesome. This turbo pulls and PULLS past redline.

Here's the current standing so far against the evo9 turbo, both at 24psi. +35hp / +8tq with just a turbo swap.

And check out one of my anomoly runs The hp trajectory goes to the moon!

Here's the dyno graph for you people who relate to Virtual Dyno better. Almost the same.

Looking good man! Are you still on the stock FMIC? Get a big bad core on there if you can, and a 3-port BCS and make the most out of that combo!

Great gains though, I love the BBK!

FWIW I ran my BBK Full for 20k miles on Mobile1 10w30 with zero issues.

Yea I'm on oem intercoolers. I'm starting to do my research on them. Am I going to gain more lag with an aftermarket one? More volume = more lag? I don't want anymore than I have now.

Do you plan to turn the boost up a little? It seem like the BBK will benifit from 2psi more or so...

Everyone always says that but I saw zero spool loss on stock turbo with the buschur deluxe and I ran the race version forever. All you will see is more efficiency from all of the 'big' fmic's made to fit an evo. IMHO get a garret core fmic, i.e. buschur race or cbrd's fmic. Perrin one is great bang for your buck too!

Probably needs a bigger fmic before he can push boost. It's all about the combo guys, not just the turbo!

I'd like to run 28psi. What would happen if I ran that on oem intercooler?

You might get heat soaked since the OEM FMIC might not be able to keep the air cool.

What is your mod list?
