I actually made torque quicker with the Grimmspeed 3-port than we did with a Hallman MBC on a FP Red car. I do not buy into the whole idea that MBC makes for better spool. It is nonsense in my opinion since I did test it out myself on my own car with stock turbo and another car with a Red.

Were talking about both controllers. Not one or the other

Either way, in my experience with 2 totally different cars the 3 port performed better. This would lead me to believe that it would be pointless to do a "hybrid" setup.

No graphs because I delete all logs from the computer once I am done analyzing. You can believe me or not but I have no reason to lie or make stuff up as I am not selling any parts or services. We chose to keep the 3 port on the Red car since it is stock block and want to keep boost low in lower RPM range and ramp it up to 29-30 in higher RPM.

Edit: I'm not saying you don't believe me, I just wanted to share my personal experience with you. All is good here!

Good discussion, guys. Turbo + MAP stuff arrives on Monday. Once it's installed and tuned this week, I will post graphs of the wastegate stock preload (18 psi spring) and then with the helper 23 psi spring in and preload adjusted. I am guessing that the 23 psi setting will spool better, but that's just a guess based on what other people do with their fast spooling turbos and 23-25 psi WGA's...

mbc helps quite a bit more and it is very noticeable. that is a fact and not an opinion.

I 100% guarantee you. this is not even debatable.

I suggest doing that test again, because that's not possible. when i ran a 3 port by itself it softened the spool/tq hit downlow vs a mbc by itself.

after i added the mbc with the 3 port i got the same feeling as the mbc alone but with the ability to fine tune the boost uptop.

100% guarantee you im right. this is a 100% fact. you should know just by what im saying here your results are wrong or you are misinformed and incorrect on your findings.

please do the test over and state facts next time not opinions.

you dont even need a dyno graph either. just 3 port to mbc and vice versa, you can feel the difference in your seat. i am really confused in regards to how someone could not feel the difference. it was extremely noticeable to me and dozens~ of my customers.

A 3 port electronic boost controller will give the same effect as a mbc if you keep it closed 100% until desired boost. On almost every EBC on the market there is an adjustment to make it more or less aggressive to CP troll boost spikes around peak boost. I think GReddy calls it sharpness. I haven't tuned the stock ECU boost control so that may be exclusive to that method but it is not because of the solenoid. A 4port is even better than the mbc or 3 port because it allows LOW spring pressure to gold massive boost. Think 5-50psi range.

Like I said it could be a function of the stock ECU boost control but not because of the 3port itself.

the stock ECU has a setting to lock the WGDC to 100% until a certain load. the 3 port pulsates the signal to the WGA slightly cracking the WGA open during spool which gives the softness feeling.

I'm not going to waste my time taking parts off of my car to put onto another and switching them back onto my car to prove anything to you. I'm not being paid for my time and effort.

You can say I'm wrong but I know what I experienced and so does the owner and another local. I have no reason to BS my friends or anyone on this forum.

I just retuned my car for a MBC and switched the GS to the other car within the past 2 weeks. The only reason the switch was done in the first place was so I could show him he needed the GS to keep the car safe and make the power he wanted and have decided to leave the GS in place.

You experienced something different than me which is fine. This is why having an open forum is a good thing.

I know you are a big advocate of "hybrid" boost control and probably one of a few who are but I am not. We have different tuning styles which maybe is why we have different results. I have been around for a long time and have seen my fair share of tuning and results.
