So in blocking off the EGR (I plugged the head) What do I need to do with the solenoid? Can I remove it completely or does it need to stay plugged in? Does it sense Vacuum / pressure?
Just want to know what to do with the hardware while the engines out.

Not all cars are going to have an EGR that leaked as bad as this one. Some may not see big gains, some will. The fact that 1400-1500* air is making its way into the intake manifold thru a leaking EGR, the exhaust is diluting the fresh air, and contaminating the charge, would lead me to believe EVERY car will see a gain.
If its leaking
Also it seems that all of the ones above 85-90k miles that have come in leak to some degree.

You can tap it and plug it with a pipe plug. I'm sure just welding it up would work fine too..

Can I speculate that a similar gain can happen to an Evo X with a leaky EGR? I also need to figure out a way to keep the OBDII free of codes if block the EGR.

So I've seen a couple people say you don't need a tune and a couple say you do. If I have a completely stock Evo IX no tune or anything will I still be ok to take off the sensor and put the plate on the IM no problems? New to the platform and still learning before I start modding hardcore. Thanks guys!
